Scotlands Mike Scott moved his band Another Pretty Face to England to make his mark. He made it after they split and he formed the Waterboys. Fourth album here and it hits the spot for me. After three releases bandmate Karl Wallinger left to form World Party, and the band moved to Ireland for a fresh start. That led to picking up some traditional Irish musicians and this fabulous release. Only two more albums were in the tank before the band split and Scott went on to attempt a solo career. That lasted for two albums before the band reformed around 2000 and are still a unit I think. Lost touch after this album but it would take a lot to equal it. The band never had much commercial success, but had that loyal cult following. This would become their best selling album reaching #13 in the U.K. and a disappointing #76 in the states. Two singles of Fishermans Blues and World Party could only manage placing on the Modern Rock charts. Love five tracks, Fishermans Blues, Strange Boat, Has Anybody Seen Hank, When Will We Be Married, and And A Bang On The Ear, with that being my favorite. Only Dunford's Fancy fails to make a mark.

I dont know now where she is oh but if I had her here

So my woman of the hearthfire, harbour of my soul
I watch you lightly sleeping and sense the dream that does unfold (like gold)
