SteveO Wrote:I've noticed in past years that KD Lang is very popular in Australia !!!! The Watershed album (2008) went gold down under. Hymns of the 49th Parallel did very well also. She is definitely one of the best female crooners of all time - Crying and Hallelujah give me goose bumps.
Seems to me that Aussies in general just plainly love music. I don't think KD has been recognised on a broader scale globally ?

this could be due to several reasons:
1. we have one of the widest diversities of cultures here
2. we are 10,000miles from US and Europe so we're not as influenced by location
3. i find europeans/Americans tend to support their own homegrown talent before they support "imports"
4. artists who appear accessable to people and down to earth in their personalities tend to be appreciated here
maybe i am wrong but this is how i see it
also, K.D, Pink,Stevie Nicks and numerous others are more popular here per head of population than anywhere else
