My point arose because of the following observation
I think we all to a certain extent assume that as people around he world interested seriously in music that our reference points on its history and the important players should have some degree of overlap................
However, when studying "our" comments and reactions to postings it becomes clear to me that we make a great many assumptions here that maybe are not true.
Often I will post about an artist who my my reference points has been quite significant, within my experience of music and has had quite an effect and find that else where in the world this person or group has had little impact or their impact has been different..........
I also find this , other members post about artists that I have not really heard of or perceive as having had little to do with my sphere of musical influence.................however , after a little bit of research I find out via the available facts that my assessment has been hasty and they have played a part that up until now I have not really appreciated. This i find I have broadened my horizons and learnt a little more and perhaps view things in a better light now.:biggrin1:

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
