I agree totally, Gryph...speakers for certain music and headphones for certain music and certain situations.

May mixes are intended to be played back in Stereo across two speakers in a room( We can argue Mono , %. etc ) but in essence that is what it was engineered to do and that was the brief.................
Headphones offer another environment , there is little crosstalk and you ae closer to the sound , little added echo from the room and it's environment..............
Now who is to say which s best ? They are two different beasts and as such produce two differing results :
If one is ale to change between the two freely then fine , if not then it can be a case of "horses for courses"..............If I want a concert I use speakers............if I want a close listening environment it is headphones..................
If I don't ant o disturb others headphones...........................Feeling loud it is speakers !!!!!!!
