Music Head Wrote:sort of thought you were an Enohead, maybe from a previous post.
you see he's got a new one out this week.
haven't read anything about it though, you?
Eno's albums were always a little too out there for me
Being a normal guy and all.
Didn't know he had a new one out - thx for the tip. Yes I confess, at times I am a pure egghead (translated - wishy washy cosmic nonsense). But I prefer it when it is combined with more conventional instruments. The problem with ambient music is that someone can record a fart with loads of reverb and echo and let it fade away over period of er, let's say 30 or 40 minutes, and then give it some mystical name or call it opus No 72 or something and no-one would be any the wiser. It does not need a key or a structure or form which allows 'artists' to get away with anything. When it is used as a backdrop to a more familiar/conventional structure it can be very effective. Mr Wakeman comes to mind here. (Think of the abstract keyboard passages on 'Tales from Topographic Oceans').
