i-Pod listening in the garden this PM.
I think I'm out of step with MD received wisdom on this one. A recent thread suggested this is one of the Fabs' strongest albums, but I've never felt it was...
Stuck it on the i-Pod for another appraisal.
I stand by my opinion of this one. It has to be a classic album, cos it's The Beatles, and it's very good, but I still don't think it's anywhere near their best (neither is Sgt Pepper IMV).
Whether or not the band were pioneering at this stage, I think that a lot of what's on here has been done much better by others since.
Of course, there's a good quota of genuinely brilliant material here; Come Together, Something, Here Comes The Sun, & much of the closing suite, but much of the rest is merely good IMHO.
There we go, I'll have to keep going with it !!
