LEONARD COHEN "songs of love and hate", cd.
firstly, i never really heard much Cohen until MH started posting his albums some time back, then i had the opportunity to listen to him via the youtube links provided.
i then bought a double best of set as an introduction to LC and was instantly taking a-back by the quality of his lyrics, so i Pm'd MH and got him to recomend an album to purchase and this was the first one he said i should get.
its taken a while but ive finally heard it a few times and can make a fair judgement on it!
the album is quite sparse musically, has brilliant thoughtprovoking and meaningful lyrics...all with a sense of warmth, yet cold, yet emotional at the same time.
now LC is and has never been a singer, and like Dylan relies on strong lyrical content to get the message that he is trying to convey through to the listener.
its a great album for listening to in the dark with headphones on so that your entire concentration is on the songs.
although im not gonna rate this a 2.7 or 2.8 like MH would it does get a strong 2.1 as a fairly new discovery for me.
