Gryph. funny you mentioned that Yes song because my favorite opening to a song would have to be the slow intro that buils up to a fast one in Yes' Roundabout !!!!I like the one note at a time intro (SteveHowe) and then the explosion of a fast tempo intro to that song. It's always stuck in my mind from memory.
Another one would be Canned Heat's On the Road Again with the long droney guitar sound or some other sound machine ???? It was very different sounding for AM Radio in "68.
Ozzy's crazy laugh at the start of Crazy Train is another catchy intro...who starts a song with a crazy laugh ????..lol
