Third and last album from this one hit wonder Texas band, and the hit is not on this one. The hit Breakfast At
Tiffany's came from their second album, Home. Although this is their last one, the group has not officialy called
it quits, just on a long 11 year break. They still perform on rare occasions. The found brothers of the group, Todd
and Toby Pipes have been involved in producing local Texas acts for some years. Maybe they find that more rewarding
from an artistic perspective. Doesn't sound like a full reforming is in sight, as the four members have taken
different career paths. They did make some decent music as a group with one standout for me on this album of Hell
In Itself for which there is no clip. Nothing here sounds like the hit single from the previous album, which leaned
more to the pop side. That may have been a fluke they wanted to avoid. Tracks here are much more of an alternative
sound. Softer tracks had some Connells sound for me, and others maybe some REM. Just scrapes by after that one love
track, with three I could pass on. A single of She Is was released which failed to chart as with the album.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Burning A Past
Best Track - Hell In Itself
Everything just right, sugar and old spice
Under the thumb for the last time now
He exits his old cell
There's a priest casting old spells
Then he takes the walk
On his way down, Vinnie turns around
And he says
If you never love then you never live
And that's hell in itself
'Cause we all will be judged
By the love that we give, don't lie to yourself
Those were the old days
Intermittent with old ways
Take the risk with the blame
Even he knew that his old lady's upstate
Does her best just to get straight
Still cries everyday
Now that Vinnie is gone
We carry on and we say
If you never love then you never live
And that's hell in itself
'Cause we all will be judged
By the love that we give, don't lie to yourself
