picked out two albums to listen to today, both 'classic r & r, and both 'live' sets...,
no ratings given for these as live albums rarely live up to expectations....Neil Young's "live rust" and "weld" are an impossible benchmark for anyone to attain!

JOHN FOGERTY "premonition" cd,1988.
pretty much a career spanning live set featuring CCR and solo material,
not a bad set, but as usual, the live recordings lack the spark of the original tracks, especially the CCR material, Fogerty's vocals do falter at times but overall, not a bad live set for a Fogerty completist to own...

PAUL McCARTNEY "tripping the live fantastic" cd,1990
a double live set from the US tour of that year of release...
plenty of Beatle,Wings and solo tracks on this 34 track set...Macca is in fine form for the most part but falters on the parts he needs to hold notes on for an extended period(must be an age thing?)
nowhere near as good as the triple album "over america" from the mid 1970s, but pretty good set overall. even the tracks from his then current studio album "flowers in the dirt" stand up well alongside the classics, which i guess proves he still had "it" as a writer that late in his career...
tracks like "eleanor rigby" and "things we said today" are nice additions to the album as he tends not to play those on a consistant basis live.
