Hi there. This is my first post, I haven't been on a forum in a while, but no one cares anyway. I need to vent some junk out so that's why I joined and hopefully I can stick around for a while. And I also hope this is in the right place, anyhow moving on. Apparently my enter key doesn't work so sorry for the formatting. So lately all music discussion I've had has revolved around two opinions of current popular music. As you all know PSY's new song is out, it's a good song catchy and all, but that's beside the point. Everyone I know who has listened to it and youtube comments I've heard suggest that it is just another Gangnam Style, it sounds too much the same to even matter. Now I've listened to it, and I feel like it's different so I don't get that perspective. But my problem with people saying that is, what did they expect? If an artist makes a new song it's usually similar to his previous work, like in my PSY example, by their logic we shouldn't have liked Gangnam Style because it is similar to his song Right Now. There aren't really any artists that don't reiterate themselves in there music. A Green Day song, sounds like another Green Day song all Goldfinger songs sound alike, hell if you're hardcore Bikini Kill has songs that sound like Bikini Kill songs. Alanis Morissette Sounds like Alanis, it goes on and on with every single musician when they stick to their chosen genre, save for the second album rule of course. So am I sitting alone on this or completely wrong and missing a big picture or do some people agree with me? THanks.
