Debut album and it put them on the map with Born To Be Wild which helped immortalize the film
Easy Rider. The song is one of those that you got sick of hearing on the classic rock stations,
but it deserved to be there. Always loved John Kay's growly vocals. Didn't know he was a
German. Relocated to Canada when he was a kid where he formed the band Sparrows. No success
there but moved to California where he formed Steppenwolf in 1967. That Canada connection must
explain the #1 charting for this album there. Got to #6 here with Born To Be Wild making #2.
That was the highest charting single the group had. Nice Chuck Berry Tribute with Berry Rides
Again along with a cool cover of Willie Dixons Hootchie Kootchie Man. The Pusher has always
been my favorite. Five love tracks and nothing I don't like. I really need a best of set from
these guys.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
