hey J-Man,
you posted somewhere the other week that you do not own any Beatle albums and do not really rate the Sgt.Peppers album as high as others obviously do so:
1. why do you not own any albums?
2.do you own any of their solo albums?
3. do you rate john and Paul as great writers?
4. what is it about the Beatles that doesnt obviously sit well with you?
5. which Beatle songs(if any) do you love and which ones(obviously the ones you know) do you dislike?
this may take you a while to answer but your reply would be appreciated at some point mate!
ok, so heres my take on The Beatles:
i own all their albums, all of Macca's, a couple of Ringo's, several George albums, and own a couple of boxsets of Johns solo output, which covers most of his officially released solo songs...
on the Beatles, i find one maybe two tracks on each album that i dont like, but mostly i fond them enjoyable
i dont rate Sgt.Peppers as high as most music lovers neither, i think the whole thingf sounds dated and hasnt aged well IMO
on Macca, i love the guy and his music, the only problem i have is that he sticks to his formula year in year out.
John,i think he is an intelligent writer who is not affraid to spill out his feelings and emotions in the public arena warts n all, and i dislike "imagine" with a passion(so does Bob Dylan according to a 1981 interview i recently read in rolling stone)
George, very good lyricist,ok vocals, great guitarist, but albums are often patchy to say the least
Ringo...useless waste of space as a drummer, vocalist and albums are terrible at best
thanks for taking the time to read this mate, i eagerly await your summery of these guys, their music and your answers to my questions
