question for Jerome!

Jerome, have you heard the LOVE album with Beatle music that was used by Cirque de Soleil in a stage show ? There are some musical twists you may like ...great production !

Wow, where do I start?

First of all I do not dislike any Beatles music apart from 'Yellow Submarine' & Hey Jude.
On the whole I find their music very palatable but I have not found anything that really gets under my skin. (line from Hey Jude??!??) That answers the first question.

Yes I do own many of the solo albums. For me personally, their writing had matured individually and they had shaken off that 'Love Me Do' stuff. I can understand why that was all popular - I used to listen to it myself, many many times. But it never stuck. I also used to play a couple of those old Beatles songs in pubs and you would always get a reaction, but it was more of a let's have a good time thing as opposed to let's really listen to this stuff. That sorts out question 2.

J & P were great writers - period. But I think they both achieved their best work outside of the Beatles - just my opinion. That's 3 dealt with.

I do not know how to answer question 4. They just do not have the same appeal to me as other bands do. I think it has something to do with the actual sounds used but I am really not sure.

Question 5 - Let It Be & Mr Moonlight are my favourites - ??!?? As for the ones I do not like see first line in this text.

I am not knocking the Beatles - they were and probably still are the most influential band in the history of popular music. Just not my thing.

My brother was - and still is - a Beatles nut. It was when he came home from the Navy one day with a copy of 'Wish You Were Here' under his arm that I really sat up and took notice. And I can't say why on that one either! But when I heard the opening strains of 'Shine On' I was in another world. I am still there. And to date there has been no ship available to retrieve my sorry soul.............
