CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:
THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH "welcome to the beautiful south" cd, 1989
when UK group The Housemartins split, Norman Cook went off to become Fat Boy Slim, the remainder became Beautiful South...
this is their debut set...still have the melancholy type vocals of the previous group but themusic for the most part is like Housenartins in their quieter moments...
still tuneful,melodic and catchy...
this one made it to #2 on the UK charts and went platinum out there, three singles lifted off this one "song for whoever" made it to #2 in the UK, "you keep it all in" #8, and "i'll sail this ship alone" #31...the second single was unlucky not to be my favourite track here, instead giving it to "woman in the wall"..
this band released ten studio albums, eight of which made it into the UK top10, before they split due to "musical similarities"...LMAO!, their previous group, Housemartins, split after two albums citing "chart success" as their reason for parting ways...either these guys are very strange or have a weird sense of humour!
