BILLY JOEL "the nylon curtain" cd, 1982
billy's eigthth studio set...
reached #7 stateside, #4 here in Australia, #27 UK, and #12 Canada...
three singles:
"pressure" #20 US, #16 AU, #9 Can,
"allentown" #17 US, #49 AU, #21 Can
"goodnight saigon" #56 US, #29 UK
the singles chart positions and even the album chart placings do not reflect the genius that is "the nylon curtain" IMO...
this is superb pop songwriting from one of pop's best craftsmen from that era...
only one thing on here i dont like and that was the lead off single "pressure"...i may have liked it when it came out but i cannot stand it now, the music and vocal style dont fit in with the rest of the album neither, its really out of place on here...
this is classic Billy Joel from the openig train whistle of "allentown", beyond the chopper sounds of "goodnaight gaigon" through to the haunting "scandanavian skies", simply brilliant album and up there with his best for sure!
im not in the mood to go searching for links with this one and i aint gonna post any, if you dont like it....sue me!
