JERRY HARRISON & THE CASUAL GODS "casual gods" vinyl, 1988
album chart action: #78 US, #18 AU.
single chart action:
"rev it up".............#7 US, #3 AU.
"man with a gun"...#16 AU.
"cherokee chief"....# 92 AU.
Jerry Harrison was the keyboard guy for Talking Heads,
this is his second solo set...
the songs have a slight Talking Heads sound at times, but for the most part they are either too slow or the lyrics are not cryptic enough for their style...
track listing differs from the US to here though, one track,"breakdown in the passing lane" was omitted from the Aussie release and repleced with "bobby", yet both tracks appear on the cd version apparently..
this album starts off really well, opening with the very Heads sounding "rev it up" and the first side is very consistantly good, the secodn side is also consistant, but not in the same way...with three of the five tracks not making the grade for me...not sure if its the songs themselves or whether the lack of variation is to blame,
either way it still makes the grade as an album, but not enough for me to want to update with the cd version...
