I have nothing against calling something old school--I'm old school--but modern R&B is not a new school of the genre, it is a different genre that stole the name and that's all it is. True R&B is not old school because it has never been replaced.
I agree 100%. True R&B has a lot of soul. The new stuff is just riding on the back of the classic R&B writers and performers so that they actually have a 'brand' that they can latch onto.
