I loved using last.fm some months ago as a music discovering tool, but I haven't been using it lately because my backlog of bands I still need to check out more has gotten too big, and randomly picking a band on the metal-archives database, then checking out their stuff on youtube has been sufficient enough for discovering good new music lately. Though it tends to take more time and work wading through bands, whereas last.fm kept recommending me good bands more than half the time it put something on I hadn't heard before. I may re-subscribe to it sometime soon because of that, but probably only once I've checked out most of that backlog I have.
