I’ve listened to The Breeze - cool title. Be interesting to hear anyone else’s opinions – this is mine!

On the face of it, it seems a fitting tribute to JJ Cale – the artists are all polished and accomplished – Clapton does a perfect take and Mark Knopfler puts his stamp firmly down on a couple of tracks, which I actually prefer to a very faithful reproduction – more interesting. I thought John Mayer stood out too, and I’m not one of his followers. Willie Nelson gives it a fair amount of stick and I’m not a follower of his either, but I think it’s time to take it easy now Willie! They all did a great job so it’s weird that, for me, it just misses capturing the essence of JJ Cale and the listening becomes a bit monotonous – I wonder if ‘polished’ is the clue – not fuzzy enough? A bit too slick, or maybe that’s just what big, warm, lazy laidback sounds do. I’m gonna go get out Troubadour and 5 to check. Haven’t heard those in a long while!
