i read in todays 'entertainment' section of the paper an interview with Elvis which said he was releasing an album in November of this year...
that makes it his 31st studio album since 1977 if memory serves me correct...
album details:
album is a collection of Bob Dylan lyrics from the late 1960s-early 1970s...
how it came about:
Bob Dylan handed over the lyrics to 55 un-recorded songs to his friend T-Bone Burnett late last year, according to Elvis the handover went something like this
Dylan.......i thought you might like these to do something with them T-Bone,theyre no good to me...
T-Bone.....yeh i can use them, i'll ask Elvis if he wants to collaborate on them with me...
Dylan.......thats who i was thinking of but i didnt want to give you any ideas....
T-Bone.....dont worry, we'll give them the justice they deserve....
so anyway,
Elvis took them on earlier this year and spent a week putting music to them with T-Bone and recorded all 55 tracks in three days.
twenty of those tracks will be released on record this november.
no album title has been decided upon as yet, but Costello has hinted that either "lost on the river" or "the new bootleg volume I" will probably be the title...!
the songs were recorded at "big pink" studios, the one that was used by Dylan & The Band on their collaborations...
