Ok, back to bigears....
Travelling Willburys....
They did start out as a George solo project, "handle with care" had been slated as a George 'b-side' but his record company thought it was better than that, they urged George and Co. To record an album....and the rest is history...
As for the Denny Laine/Macca split....
Laine was fed up with Paul on two levels....
Firstly,
Even though he was a founding member of Wings,Macca was only paying him basic wages and by the time "mull of kintyre" was written,Laine was facing bankruptcy thus Macca gave him a writing credit on that track believing it was a throwaway....how wrong was he?!!!!
Secondly,
Laine was fed up with Macca's drug use and busts, the final straw came when Macca was arrested on the eve of the 1980 Japanese tour.....
Laine packed his bags and left the group....
Macca, when he was released from a Japanese jail after two weeks, tried to get other musos to play with him but no one wanted to get involved with "druggie Paul"...
He announced Wings were over and proceeded to record his "mccartneyII" set
