What Are You Listening To?

All the recent rappin' has me listening to Everlast (Erik Francis Schrody), which I do from time to time anyway (good for road trips). He’s probably scorned by purist rap/hip hop aficionados because of his crossover, bluesy style - I like to think that if Santana chose to record with him, he can’t be all that crap. He’s not unintelligent, at least, and his musicality is without question. Here’s “Put Your Lights On”, a Grammy award-winning duet with Carlos Santana - a song mostly of hope, according to Everlast, who wrote it coming out of a dark place - recovering from a major heart attack. Don’t know what category this slots into, so alternative it is!
