the #2 in Australia this week is grossly overinflated IMO...
but I guess she is more popular here than in any country in the world, so I guess it figures she would be that high.

Drake’s One Dance notches up a third week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart this week, setting a new record in the process!The rapper/singer's track holds the lead on this week’s chart with 129,000 chart sales, made up of 50,000 downloads and a record-breaking 7.86 million streams, beating the previous record held by Adele’s Hello, which notched up 7.32 million plays during its opening week last October.


One Dance features on Drake’s new album Views, which is released today and is expected to make a strong entry on next week’s Official Albums Chart.
Elsewhere in the Top 5, Sia’s Cheap Thrills remains at 2 for the fourth week running, followed by Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza at 3.
Joe Jonas-fronted band DNCE jump from 9 to 4 with Cake By The Ocean, and Fifth Harmony’s Work From Home is at 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Finishing just outside this week’s Top 5 is Prince’s Purple Rain (Number 6). The late icon’s signature song hits a new peak on the chart and leads six entries in today’s Top 100 following his untimely death last week, followed by When Doves Cry (26), Kiss (38), Raspberry Beret (47), 1999 (49) and Little Red Corvette (70).

Another artist who makes multiple entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart is Beyonce. After the release of her Lemonade album last Sunday, six of the record’s track hit the Top 40. The highest is Hold Up at 17, followed by Formation (31), Sorry (33), 6 Inch (35), Don’t Hurt Yourself (36) and Freedom (40).
Elsewhere, Galantis’ No Money shoots from 23 to 12, DJ Snake and Bipolar Sunshine’s Middle jumps 15 spots to Number 18, and Little Mix’s Hair cracks the Top 20, up 12 places to Number 19.
Finally US heavy metal band Disturbed score their second UK Top 40 hit today with The Sound Of Silence (34). Their last appearance on the chart was with Prayer, which peaked at 31 in 2002.

Following its surprise release last Sunday, Beyonce’s Lemonade enters straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
The superstar’s sixth studio collection racked up 73,000 chart sales, making Lemonade the second-fastest selling artist record of 2016 (behind David Bowie's "blackstar").

The record also enjoyed a strong week on streaming, accounting for 10,000 equivalent sales (14%) of its overall sales figure – the biggest streaming sales for a Number 1 album since Streaming became part of the official chart count in 2014.
Lemonade is Queen Bey’s third Number 1 album in the UK, following her debut Dangerously In Love and her fourth studio collection 4.


[h=4]New Entries and High Climbers[/h]Occupying the next 3 places behind the Formation singer is Prince, following his untimely death last week. The Very Best Of is at 2, Ultimate sits at 3 and Purple Rain – OST from Prince & The Revolution climbs 51 places to Number 4. A further three Prince albums enter this week’s chart: The Hits/The B-Sides (13), Sign O’ The Times (15) and 1999 (28).
Adele’s 25 is at 6 this week, marking the first time the record has dropped from the Top 5 since its release last November. Just behind Adele is Katherine Jenkins; Celebration, her album commemorating Queen Elizabeth II’s 90[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday debuts at 7. Katherine also enjoys her 12th UK #1 album over on the Official Combined Classical Albums Chart today, overtaking Andre Rieu’s eleven classical Number 1s.
In addition to Katherine, there are another three new entries in this week’s Top 40. Katy B’s third studio album Honey is at 22, Sandy Denny’s I’ve Always Kept A Unicorn – Acoustic begins at 31, and Julian Ovenden’s Be My Love starts out at 37.

PRINCE'S impact on the UK charts in the week following his death last week:

Following his sudden death last Thursday (April 21), fans have been flocking back to Prince's music this week as they mourn the loss of a music icon.
14 of the superstar’s records flood back in to this week’s Official Albums Chart today, the biggest selling of which is The Very Best Of, which matches its original peak at Number 2 when it was first released in 2001.

Two more of his retrospectives appear in this week’s Top 40; 2006’s Ultimate reaches a new peak at Number 3 with 36,000 chart sales (it previously peaked at 6), and The Hits/The B-sides re-enters at 13.
There are also new peaks for his Purple Rain soundtrack at 4 (previous peak was Number 7), 1999 at 28 (previous peak at 30) and Dirty Mind at 61 (didn’t previously chart in the UK).
On the Official Singles Chart, the star’s signature hit Purple Rain leads six Top 100 entries at Number 6 (45,000 combined sales). The track previously peaked at Number 8 on its original 1984 release. The five other classics that enter the tally are When Doves Cry (26), Kiss (38), Raspberry Beret (47), 1999 (49) and Little Red Corvette (70).

After debuting at #2 last week, ‘Just Like Fire’ moved up one spot this week to give P!nk her eighth #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The American artist’s first #1 came with ‘Most Girls’ (#1 Oct. ’00). She has since topped the chart with her collaboration with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mýa, ‘Lady Marmalade’ (#1 May ‘01), as well as ‘Get The Party Started’ (#1 Dec. ’01), ‘So What’ (#1 Sept. ’08), ‘Raise Your Glass’ (#1 Oct. ’10), ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’ (#1 Jul. ’12) and ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ (#1 Feb. ’13).
Following the passing of Prince last week, the legendary artist’s catalogue has experienced an enormous surge in sales. Eight tracks feature in the top 50 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart. At #3, the title track of Prince & The Revolution’s 1984 album and film Purple Rain is the highest charting track of the eight. It’s the highest ever peak on the ARIA Singles Chart for ‘Purple Rain’; It peaked at #41 in November 1984. He’s also charting with ‘When Doves Cry’ (#11), ‘Little Red Corvette’ (#22), ‘Kiss’ (#27), ‘1999’ (#28), ‘Cream’ (#30), ‘Raspberry Beret’ (#31) and ‘Diamonds And Pearls’ (#50).
A jump of five spots for ‘One Dance’ gives Drake his second top five on the Singles Chart. It comes the week his fourth album Views is released.
There’s also new peaks for Dua Lipa’s ‘Be The One’ (up one to #7) and Luke Christopher’s ‘Lot To Learn’ (up seven to #32).
Debuts:
#7: Flume Feat. Tove Lo ‘Say It’ - Ahead of the release of Skin in May, Flume picks up another chart appearance with the album’s third single, ‘Say It’. It’s the follow-up to ‘Never Be Like You’ (#1 Feb. ’16) and ‘Smoke & Retribution’ (#23 Feb. ’16).
#19: Galantis ‘No Money’ – Swedish duo Galantis chart with ‘No Money’. It’s the third single to chart, following on from ‘Runaway (U & I)’ (#4 Apr. ’15) and ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ (#3 Aug. ’15).
#24: Beyoncé ‘Formation’ – The first single from Beyoncé‘s new #1 album Lemonade gives the star her first Singles Chart appearance since ‘7/11’ (#41 Dec. ’14). It premiered back in February and was part of Beyoncé‘s appearance with Coldplay at the Super Bowl half-time show.
#49: Topic Feat. Nico Santos ‘Home’ – German producer Topic makes his top 50 debut with ‘Home’. The track, which features German/Spanish singer-songwriter Nico Santos, has already charted in several countries sin Europe including Germany.

Superstar Beyoncé has grabbed her second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart thanks to sixth album Lemonade (see below).
The late, great Prince has nine albums in the top 50 this week. The highest charting is The Very Best Of, which was released in 2001 and originally peaked at #40. The Purple One is also charting with The Hits / The B-Sides (#4), Purple Rain (#5), Ultimate (#6), Sign "O" The Times (#20), Diamonds And Pearls (#22), HITNRUN Phase One (#25), The Hits 1 (#40) and 1999 (#46).
Josh Groban’s Stages (Live) has jumped five spots to #12. Vance Joy’s Dream Your Life Away has re-entered the top 50 at #39. Lee Kernaghan’s Spirit Of The ANZACS is back in the chart at #41.
Debuts:
#1: Beyoncé ‘Lemonade’ – With her surprise sixth studio album, Beyoncé picks up her second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Released on Monday (25 Apr), Lemonade is the follow-up to Beyoncé (#1 Jan. ‘14) and features appearances by Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and more. Like its predecessor, there’s a visual album version of Lemonade. It was first broadcast on HBO in the US on 23 Apr. The album’s lead single, ‘Formation’, has debuted at #24 on this week’s Singles Chart.
#3: Dami Im ‘Classic Carpenters’ – Ahead of her appearance at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, Dami Im pays tribute to American duo The Carpenters with third album Classic Carpenters. The follow-up to Heart Beats (#7 Oct. ’14) features Carpenters classic such as ‘Rainy Days And Mondays’, ‘Superstar’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’ and ‘(They Long to Be) Close to You’.
#9: Paul Kelly ‘Seven Sonnets And A Song’ – The twenty-first studio album from ARIA Hall Of Famer Paul Kelly pays tribute to William Shakespeare on four hundredth anniversary of the poet/playwright’s death. It’s Kelly’s fourth top ten on the Albums Chart and first since Spring And Fall (#8 Oct. ’12).
#16: A$AP Ferg ‘Always Strive And Prosper’ – American rapper A$AP Ferg pick up his first top 50 appearance courtesy of second album Always Strive And Prosper. The album is the follow-up to 2013’s Trap Lord.
#32: John Williamson ‘Looking For A Story’ – A new seven-track EP from ARIA Hall Of Famer John Williamson. Released as a follow-up to Honest People (#11 Aug. ’14), it features a newly-penned ANZAC-inspired track as well as other Australian classics.
#36: Camp Cope ‘Camp Cope’ – The self-titled debut album from Melbourne three-piece Camp Cope. The album was recorded and mixed at Melbourne’s Holes & Corners Studio by Sam Johnson (The Smith Street Band, The Bennies).
#38: Melbourne Ska Orchestra ‘Sierra Kilo Alpha’ – The debut top 50 appearance for 34-member Melbourne Ska Orchestra. It’s the follow-up to 2013’s self-titled album.

It's pretty easy to understand why there has been a big influx of prince singles and albums onto the relevant charts - but what's with all the Michael Jackson stuff? Is there some MJ-related thing happening that I haven't heard about?

As an aside, isn't it interesting that, as facts start to emerge, it appears as though the circumstances that led to Prince's death are eerily similar to those in the case of Michael Jackson? i.e. errors in medication?

im not sure there is anything of consequence/historical with Michael Jackson at the moment??

he was born in August and died in June and the "30th Anniversary" release of "thriller" was a couple of years ago...

im guessing maybe both names have been linked because both Michael and Prince were from Jehovah Witness families???
I guess both really rose to stardom internationally at the same time and both died from similar causes???

^^ Prince and Michael Jackson were often compared because their voices were similar, and I guess their musical styles were often similar. To me though they were chalk and cheese. Jackson was talented, but he was an entertainer, in manner of people like Elvis Presley, Tom Jones or Dionne Warwick. Prince on the other hand was a creator and an innovator, as well as being an entertainer - he wrote all his own material (as far as I know) and was not afraid to touch on subjects that other performers tended to shy away from.
