TANYA TUCKER "would you lay with me (in a field of stone)" cd, 1974.
her third and still only fifteen...
a very good album here but not quite as strong as her first two for me...
love her cover of Kris' "why me Lord" but not keen on Olivia's "let me be there",
everything else ispretty good.
the title track, and my favourite, was a #1 hit in both her homeland and in Canada also.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
favourite has an almost Gospel/spiritual feel to it
Would you lay with me
In a field of stone?
If my needs were strong
Would you lay with me?
Should my lips grow dry
Would you wet them, dear
In the midnight hour
Should my lips grow dry?
Would you go away to another land?
Walk a thousand miles through the burning sand
Wipe the blood away from my dying hand
If I give myself to you
Will you bathe with me
In the stream of life?
When the moon is full
Will you bathe with me?
Will you love me now
When I'm down and out?
In my time of trial
Will you stand by me?
Would you go away to another land?
Walk a thousand miles through the burning sand
Wipe the blood away, from my dying hand
It might give myself to you

BOY & BEAR "moonfire" cd, 2011
a revisit.
Aussie alt-folk/indi-folk band...
their debut of four...
their best for me by a long way...
lots of well crafted folky tunes...
nothing bad on here, just apleasant listen.

THE NOTTING HILLBILLIES "missing.....presumed having a good time" cd, 1990.
a collective of like minded musicians coming together for a one-off project...
a collection of eleven tracks, two or three originals, the remainder covers and traditional tunes.
songs fit firmly in Americana...
a solid album IMO

BOB DYLAN "good as i been to you" cd, 1992
his twenty-eighth studio set...
a covers album of old folk tunes...
a totally acoustic album...
should have been good but it fails for me, liking the guitar and harmonica,
dislike his vocals as they seem slurred and garbled at best so they are indecipherable at best...
his worst sounding album IMO with nothing i like remotely...
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

The sounds of silence - shortly. Load shedding ahoy. UPS etc., on order.

BOB DYLAN "dylan" cd, 1973
his thirteenth, lucky for some....
Dylan never sanctioned this release, Columbia compiled a collection of tracks to release as a last ditch money grab after His Bobness left the label for Asylum Records...
album was poorly received and failed to sell, it still gets a bad rap from the experts and fans in general,
but i have my own opinion and i love these covers that were leftovers from the "self portrait" sessions...
nine tracks, six covers and three 'traditional folk tunes...
"cant help falling in love", "a fool such as i", "mr bojangles", "big yellow taxi" and "the ballad of ira hayes" for starters.
one of my go-to Dylan albums where he sings simply gorgeously IMO
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
im a huge Sammy fana nd no one comes close but this version is excellent IMO:
