Pentangle's Open the Door. I like most of the tracks on this album but especially "Dragonfly" - could listen on repeat for a while!

LEONARD COHEN "recent songs" cd.vinyl 1979
his sixth...
a return to the usual sparse sounds of earlier albums after the soft rock band version of his previous release...
like or love everything on here except the one he sings in French which i do not like...
a decent album but i suspect the downhill slide is about to commence....
album would rate around 2.2 for me....

JOHNNY CASH "out among the stars" cd, 2014
a revisit...
his fourth posthumous album, 71st studio album overall...
originally recorded in 1984 but shelved by the label at the time and forgotten about over the decades...
John Carter Cash (his son) ended up doing extra production on it around 2013/14 and released it...
not a bad album overall, nothing not to like but certainly no 'classics'...

WILLIE NELSON "God's problem child" cd 2017
a revisit...
his 91st studio album (including collaboration albums and soundtrack albums)...
certainly not what i'd call a classic album from Willie but at least it is real country...
also good to note that the vast majority of tracks are originals...
nothing not to like on here IMO

THE AVETT BROTHERS "the avett brothers" cd, 2024
a birthday gift from Lynne...
again, just got round to giving it a whirl...
same superb melodies and harmonies you would expect from these guys...
Lynne had never heard of them previously, and rightly so, as theyre not known out here...
MH's favourite album of theirs is "i and love and you". mine is "the carpenter", both are brilliant IMO..
this is really good, nice mix of uptempo tracks and more acoustic melodic folkie ones...
album would rate a respectable 2.2 and thats about where it really sits which means...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
i couldnt pick a favourite so i got Lynne to pick hers:

LORD HURON "long lost" cd, 2021
a revisit
their fourth and latest album
alternative country is the best way to describe it with hints of americana/folk...
lovely harmonies and little melodies on here, reminds me of Father John Misty in places..
a very nice album

GRAHAM NASH "songs for beginners" cd, 1971
a revisit
folk and folk-rock is what i would call it...
his debut solo album...
as good an album as anything by Stephen, Neil and Croz from that period IMO
a great collection of songs that i dont think he matched
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
so difficult to pick a fave off here but i'll post something i cant recall ever posting on MD
