back to the early 1980s again now....
VILLAGE PEOPLE "cant stop the music" B/W "milkshake" 1980
ive got to admit it, that when i pulled this one out that i cringed knowing i had to play it....
but i neednt have fretted, this one actually stands the test of time IMO....
both sides of this single formed part of the soundtrack to the movie of the same name which starred the VP's...
single peaked at #1 here in Australia

man...
my-ole-man actually bought a "hip-hop" single....WTF, and i really mean WTF seriously!!!!
i just cant believe it, but whatever....
"A" side, i do actually like this one, i even like the re-recording they did with Aerosmith a few years later...
"B" side is actually the instrumental version...same as the "A" really, just without the vocal track

what can i say other than......its the Beatles...
the amazing this is with those guys is that their "B" sides were often as good as their "A" sides
for those who have not heard the "B" side here,take a listen and hear their superb harmonies...
single reached a predictable and obvious #1 in the UK(as it did all over planet earth)
no need to put up their Wiki as we all know who these guys were,what they achieved and their legacy in popular pop culture

this guy has a brilliant voice, up there with Tom Jones and John Farnham IMO...
i love both sides of this single and i really should buy a compilation at some point

WHAM! "wham rap!" B/W "wham rap(remix)" 1982
my dad really liked Wham back in the day, i think "wake me up..." was his favourite
he really liked George's early solo stuff also('careless whispers','a different corner','faith' etc)
i actually still like this "A" side, "B" side, not a big fan of 'remixes' overall

Consider these options: 1) Testing the auction waters or; 2) Got a friend who's a to-the-bone hip-hop guy? Because this is generally thought to be the first genuine hip-hop record; certainly the first to get national recognition--sooo...carefully placard this w/ a picture of the group and give it to him/her/them. You'll cement the relationship big time...at minimal cost. Win-win, Yes? .

as for the Beatles, thnaks for that youtube list also, like you, i could argue the validity of a couple of the tracks, but whatever....its The Beatles

sorry guys but im just not a fan of ABBA's early material...i prefer their "i believe in angels","i have a dream","winner takes it all"
material...the intelligent stuff,
that said i do think Benny/Bjorn were masters of their craft at writing pop music(i appreciate their class) and the production of their music
its just the songs i dont like
this single got to #1 all over the world and the 1970s were "the decade of ABBA" without a doubt!

now, this is one youve probably never heard before(same probably goes for the band themselves!)
a Liverpudlian 'beat group' who emerged from Liverpool the same time as The Beatles did...
in fact, both sides of this single were written by McCartney/Lennon....notice its not Lennon/McCartney!!!!!!
this one(both sides) sounds like a million other tracks from that period from the UK 'beat' groups...
but take a listen, you may like these tracks...
they only had a couple of top10 hits in the UK, this was not one of those peaking at #17 out there
