I just must have not been in the mood for this. That would imply that I actually was at some
point, which I refuse to confront. These guys are just too weird. Inteligent enough lyrics, the
music is just way out there. Sounds like I'm at a comedy club, or watching a Disney tv channel.
The band never built up more than a cult following after some success in the late 80's. The
band hails from Massachusetts so that may be how I heard them, as I lived up there at the time
of that early success. This is the bands second album and had the college radio hit Ana Ng
which is my fav of the six likes out of the eighteen tracks on here. Most are pretty short.
That means there were twelve tracks on here that I'll pass on. Not a good record. I think I
have one other album by the band. I hope it comes out better than this one.

NOT DROWNING,WAVING "cold & the crackle" cd,1987.
third album by this Aussie classically trained duo from Melbourne....
wasnt sure whether to put this one in 'world' as thats what they call these guys, but then, theres a few piano based instrumentals on here also(slight classical feel) with guitar as accompanyment...
then theres some real alt songs also and acoustic trakcs....a real mix of styles to say the least. a couple of the instrumentals have bongo's as the main instrument also, which is generally not an instrument i hear in music as much as i probably should do!....hell, i even like some of these instrumental tracks and even love one of them(track 11)...first thing i thought of when listening to this was:got a feeling Jerome might like some of this stuff, then again, he might not LOL!
sorry for the lack of links guys, especially for the favourite track and brilliant instrumental!!!!!

DAVID GRAY "white ladder" cd,1998.
UK born David's fourth album(never heard of him till i got this one)...
and the first of three in a row to top the UK album charts...this one took a long while to get there though, taking two and a half years from first date of chart entry to actually making t to the top, ended up spending over 150wks in the charts.
also spawned a few hit singles, "babylon" #5, "please forgive me" #18and a cover of Soft Cell's 1982 UK hit "say hello, wave goodbye" reached #26 over there also...
i guess alt folk would be a s close as i'd say could describe this album, nothing great on here and only two i do not like, as i was listening to the album i initially picked the song 'babylon' as my favourite, then along came the one i stuck with(see below), not a bad album...i also noticed that his 2009 album had guest appearances by Annie Lennox and Jools Holland, so i guess the guy is respected out there

THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM "handwritten" cd,2012.
Gaslight's fourth album, but vocalist Brian Fallon's fifth if you count his side project album under the moniker of Horrible Crowes the other year...
without a doubt the worst of their career so far....
these guys expanded and learned over each album IMO, but this one falls flat on its face by simply rehashing the sounds of their previous efforts...very average album and had it not been these guys i wouldnt have bought it...i should have known though because i hated the lead off single "45" when it came out...that should have sent the alarm bells ringing in my ears...
nothing great on here whatsoever from these Jersey 'rockers' even though i believe they have a lot of talent to offer music, and three tracks i simply cant stand(probably only three all up on their entire collection other than these that i do not like)...not a great place to start gettting 'into' these guys by any means, better off getting their previous album 'american slang' which is brilliant IMO....

since I discovered the BEST ALBUMS EVER site I have been immersed in 1965-66 albums...Simon and Garfunkel Sounds of Silence, Beau Brummels, 5 American GIs in Germany start up the phenomenal band The Monks - Black Monk Time album ..accredited with initiation of krautrock, punk garage rock!...I am glad I found it!...and Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out!..a genius of an album ..rated by Americans as number 4 in 1966! ...hard to believe this album is 46 years old!
Dan Fogelberg's Souvenirs album from 1999 ,,,nice vocals...and finally Canada's Godspeed You! Black Emperor (2012) album ...Allelujah! Don't Bend Ascend! ...good prog rock with ambient overtones....don't think I could listen to it too often ...lol

KATIE NOONAN "skin" cd,2007.
wasnt sure where to put this one so "alternative" it is...
this is one of those albums that i like whilst listening to, then when its over i think 'what a load of boring tripe!"...Whate Stripes do that to me also(even though their music is worlds apart from this one)...
Katie was vocalist for Aussie group George back in the day, i didnt like them much,i found their songs to be boring, sort of stuff you'd put on in the background at a cheese party or similar...i really thought Katie had a lovely voice though and that going solo would have let her get her teeth into something a bit more jazzy or bluesy as an example, but alas, this is similar to the sound of George, "lounge music" is the term i am really looking for here, just mediochre, monotonous tunes about nothing inparticular, i would like to score this on my afterthoughts but seeing as i score tracks as they are playing, my original score stays...not really my thing, but may be yours...

I need a redo on this one. Not the listening of, the purchase of. I wouldn't do that again.
Contains music that was made for the film 1984. All of the music was made by Dave Stewart and
Annie Lennox and was not the usual synth/pop the duo is known for. That's not really a bad
thing. In fact some of it is pretty good music, but that's it, mostly music with no lyrics,
expect maybe Annie singing non words. Sorry, listen to track 1 and you'll know what I mean.
Here's where the story gets strange. After the group was signed to do this project, film
director Michael Radford hated it and refused to use it. He had made backup plans for his own
orchestral score, which was used in the film. So this album got no bump from that promotion.
There were two singles released, Sexcrime and Julia. The first was a top 10 in the UK but
didn't do much here. Same with the album, a #93 here and a #23 there.
