The beatles and beyond...the solo careers
#21
over all the beatles / their songs and their overall musical sound to me is unique and will never be bettered .. although some have plageurised it at times .. beatles songs speak to me in a way that no other songs do.. I feel that they are part of me as im sure a lot of other people do too.

I love magical mystery tour (album ) full of really weird songs from the summer of love 1967
SteveO Wrote:Magical Mystery Tour has I am the Walrus, eccentric Blue Jay Way, Hello Good Bye, the anthem of John's - All You Need is Love, Baby You're A rich Man, Penny Lane and the great track - Strawberry Fields forever...MMT song is a good one also. I saw Macca 4 years ago and I'll never forget it...sings 21 Beatle songs and 12 solo songs.

As far as just another band, Lennon and McCartney were gold together...they wrote great songs from scratch together and alone...the songs will endure the ages! Yes Martin was a brilliant producer , adding his classically trained compositions, strings, brass, woodwinds, recorded sound effects, etc. The Stones, Faces and The Who for example, had producers also, did they not?Having said all of that The Beatles played and played and played in Hamburg for a few years and improved their chops tremendously because of their extreme wood shedding!

Each song DOES NOT sound the same , that's their appeal to me...lord knows today's pop music has a bit of the "same old same old" quality ! And George's guitar !!!!...complex chordings for original riffs in Day Tripper, Guitar Gently Weeps, Ticket to Ride, In My Life, the music sheets are complex that's why the songs sound so wonderful,,,a lot of four finger augmented and diminished chords !

Their solo careers has Beatles written all over it ! It has to...Paul's poppy sound for the most part and John's edgy hard sound..Plastic Ono Band album is his best for me.

George had a respectable solo career with All Things Must Pass, Cloud Nine, and others. Ringo is Ringo, king of the novelty songs, and as a drummer friend told me, a very good drummer in his own right.

THEIR SONGS STICK IN YOUR HEAD !!!!...such fabulous melodies!

I WILL BE POSTING ALL THINGS BEATLE AND BEATLE related !

Too many classic songs on Magical Mystery Tour to discard it! I can take or leave the movie ...not important to me...CH remarked that the hilite for him was John singing I am the Walrus...I agree!

I couldn't have said it better, Russ! People say to me that the fact that I am a Beatle fanatic is somewhat of an obvious choice or a safe choice! I tell them I have been listening to all kinds of music for 45 yearsd and no one band or artist equals The Beatles. I still remember February 9th,1964, their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show! I've been hooked ever since ! Then came Yesterday, Ticket to Ride, Girl ....when 8 days a week came out I called my best friend and said ....he interrupted me ..I know another new Beatles song...lol..While driving or cruising around in the summer of 68 I heard that unforgettable opening Paul McCartney vocal...Hey Jude...We stopped the car and I was mesmermised ...I said "God, they did it again! "....fond memories indeed.

It's pretty close, CH ! Of course George had the accusation of My Sweet Lord plagerisng My Guy !...pretty close also IMHO.

I don't think Paul and George did it on purpose.

George was found guilty of "unconsciously plagarising" He's So Fine....how the ehck do you 'unconsciously' do that????

in Weller's case it was obviously paying respect to his heroes i guess...but its still plagarism IMO....

Sorry CH, it was He's So Fine not My Girl ...dah ...I didn't bother to look it up....I'm wondering if there comes a time that plagerism will run rampant with the overwhelming amount of music out there it's bound to happen. maybe it already has...I can hear tons of plagerism in hiphop and rap !!!!...lol ?
