CRAZY-HORSE, since you listened to Brandon Flowers's Flamingo - have you heard his new album, The Desired Effect? I'd say it's much better, although a little more 80s oriented.

I heard one of the singles from it(cant recall the name), and he used that voice altering 'vocorder' on that track, I didn't like it for that reason... I just don't like the Vocorder at all... but, I can seen Flowers using it on all tracks on the album and I will end up getting it at some point as im a big fan of The Killers, I have all their albums bar one.

STEREOPHONICS "a decade in the sun:best of stereophonics" cd, 2008 career stats: studio albums..........9 singles...................36 this album..................#2 UK this compilation album comes after studio set #6. and more surprisingly, just before studio album #7! contains twenty of their singles from their first decade of recording... these guys are the real deal, they could be called a rock-band really... Kelly Jones has a genuine rock voice, its powerful, sometimes gravelly, other times nasally(ala Liam Gallagher, but without the whiney sounds!) theres one cover on here...Handbags And Gladrags, written by Mike D'Abo, made famous by Rod Stewart... the Stereophonics version is equal to the od version IMO! great album by a great Welsh band, I only own one of their studio albums from memory, I should own more if not all of them! I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: just looking best track: Dakota tracks: 1...Dakota *** 2...the bartender and the thief ** 3...just looking * 4...have a nice day ** 5...local boy in the photograph ** 6...maybe tomorrow ** 7...superman *** 8...pick a part that's new *** 9...my own worst enemy *** 10.i wouldn't believe your radio ** 11.youre my star *** 12.mr writer ** 13.step on my old size nines ** 14.devil *** 15.it means nothing ** 16.a thousand trees *** 17.vegas two times ** 18.traffic *** 19.more life in a tramps vest *** 20.handbagsand gladrags *** 3s=10 2s=9 1s=1 rating: 2.5

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:no I haven't heard it.... That would be "Lonely Town", it contains a one or two verses sung with a strange vocoder/autotune effect. Didn't like it too. But overall it's really pleasant album, nevermind the 80s vibe. It's melodic and just easy to listen. My favourite track is "Can't Deny My Love" which was the first single from it. By the way, I'm a huge The Killers fan too. Hot Fuss is one of the best albums for me.

Neil Young recorded a whole album using a vocorder in 1982 it was called "trans"....crap album IMO...
heres one of the tracks from the album, then the link to the "mtv unplugged" version minus vocorder...the unplugged version is fantastic IMO "transformer man" vocorder album version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eblFQppJfyg and the vocorder free acoustic version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5TxFa9zndU

Hot Fuss isn't my favourite Killers album but don't ask me which one I like best because I cannot remember off the top of my head, I just know it isn't that one... Hot Fuss does however contain my two favourite songs of theirs in "somebody told me" and "mr Brightside"... I would love to get the opportunity to see them live one day!

I absolutely love these two songs you mentioned. Hot Fuss is their most "indie/rock" album as far as I think. I liked the Day & Age too. I just hope they will come somewhere near to Czech republic so I could see them live too. Sometimes I just wish I lived in US or UK, just to see these cool bands.
