love it MH, great stuff IMO...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

lead-off single from "flowers in the dirt" co-written with Elvis Costello....
first time in 20 years Paul had used his Beatles Hoffner Bass...
back of the bass still apparently had the setlist taped to it from the famous 1969 Saville Row rooftop concert when Macca pulled it out of the cupboard at Costello's request....

one of the most heartbreaking/heartfelt songs of sincerity you will ever hear in your life.
when you understand the upbringing he had by being abandoned by both parents and witnessing his mum get run over and killed as a teenager, you will understand this song for the raw emotion drenched piece of genius that it is.
the honesty in his vocals (even on the studio version) brings a lump to my throat even now.
well worth a listen if you dont know it and i assure you it is no "she loves you" or "i wanna hold your hand"....

Mother, you had me but I never had you
I wanted you, you didn't want me
So I, I just gotta tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

Father, you left me but I never left you
I needed you, you didn't need me
So I, I just gotta tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

Children, don't do what I have done
I couldn't walk and I tried to run
So I, I just gotta tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

[4x]
Mamma, don't go
Daddy, come home
