Love this lead off track here, but not much else. Brit group consisting of various artists was a much bigger act over there than in the states. A big thing on the dance club scene in the late 80's, this is their second album with that lead off being the big hit, reaching #3 in the UK but only #54 in the US and A Dream's A Dream at #6 UK. Losing the smooth vocals of Caron Wheeler after the first album, this was lacking in that respect. Jazzie B was the front man and only when he is on board to I get on board, which is very little on here.

Best Track - Get A Life

this thing called life
know what's the meaning of the line
tell me
well it's like dreaming of your goals ,
ambitions feeling free
achieve what
what's in your minds eye
this is what you should gain

satisfaction becomes a shining example
a test of a sample of a new race
that has ample supply of positivity
you mean flow
well like electricity
so you see a clear way with no ambiguity
don't you know

whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life

elevate your mind
free your soul
well come on come on
feel the feeling let your body take control

well don't be afraid to experiment you know umm
go ahead you know and implement your ideas
your notions put them in motion
like the words the funky dreds have spoken to you
so listen up loud and clear
this is a word you must be aware of

what ya gonna do put it in your life tool
and thats the meaning of life

whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life

and it goes on

elevate your mind
free your soul
well come on come on
feel the feeling let your body take control

so there it is work it out for yourself
yeah , be selective be objective
be an asset to the collective
as you know you have to get a life

whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
whats the meaning
whats the meaning of life
elevate your mind

Freeway is one of Jay-Z's sidekicks and now signed to his Cash Money label. Not sure about Jake One other than now he would be one of Freeways sidekicks. This is Freeways fifth album. A couple of really good tracks, but overall it doesn't hold up for me.

Louisiana native, now a Floridian. Label executive, producer, DJ and artist. He does it all. Out with his 4th album. Four singles already lined up. Fed Up came out in October with Put Your Hands Up, All I Do Is Win and Victory all lined up. Guests (what? you expected less?) include Usher, Drake, Plies, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross (dude, you gotta get a cool name), plus a cast of thousands. There were a couple of tracks I could handle, but as usual, not for me.

Illinois rappers Jabari Evans and Michael Aguilar met in 2000 at a talent show and decided they were a match. This is their third release. Heavy on the samples and featured artists (every track but 4 of them). No comment that I haven't already made in other posts. Pretty bad listen for me. No surpise, but hey, I try. Funny, the only 2 tracks I like, there's no clip for. First single is Take Over The World.

Georgia born, former gospel singer Monica Arnold has already made her mark on the pop scene, being the youngest recording artist to have 2 consecutive #1 hits on the r&b charts, at the age of 15 in 1995. Now, 5 albums later, she also has a reality show series on BET to add to her resume. With 4 years since the last release, the fans have certainly been patient, as this will certainly top the charts agin. First single is Everything To Me. Only one track appeals to me, with the majority carrying that vibrato stuff all over the place, like most r&b singers of the day. Take a one syllable word and carry it to 10 different octaves.

Best Track - Believing In Me

I apologize for what Ive done
I admit that I was ruling control didn't know that i was selling my soul to someone who didn't care at all couldn't see that you were bad for me gave so much that it was making me weak now i cant believe the way that it feels to finally be free
Ive moved on
and I'm strong
I'm going back to the place where i know i belong
and I'm glad that your gone
cause your not what i need
I'm believing in me
Ive moved on
and I'm strong
I'm going back to the place where i know i belong
cause I'm right
and your wrong
cause your not what i need
this time I'm believing in me
the love i had for you was so deep i didn't notice there was something wrong with me when someone asked me was there anything i need i would cry and tell them pray for me but now i know exactly what it is so I'm changing up the way that i live I'm never letting go of my dreams and maybe you'll see
Ive moved on
and I'm strong
I'm going back to the place where i know i belong
and I'm glad that your gone cause your not what i need
I'm believing in me
Ive moved on
and I'm strong
going back to the place
where i know i belong
cause I'm right and your wrong
your not what i need
I'm finally believing in me
so i hope you can forgive me I'm not gonna be the way i used to be starting over can be so scary but I'm gonna believe promise I'm not gonna let me down and my transformation starting right now but I'm really glad you stuck around cause you believed in me
so Ive moved on
and I'm strong
I'm going back to the place
where i know i belong
and I'm glad that your gone cause your not what i need
I'm believing in me
Ive moved on
and I'm strong
going back to the place where i know i belong
cause I'm right
and your wrong
you were not what i need
I'm finally believing in me
finally
finally believing in me ... me

Overall, pretty much sums up everything I hate about current r&b. But, another #1 I'm sure, so it don't need me. His sixth album, and 3 singles have already hit the airwaves, Hey Daddy, Lil Freak and OMG. Featured artists of Nicki Menaj, Ludacris, Will I. Am, Diddy and T.I. Various producers. Gotta spread the love around. There were a couple of tracks I could handle.

You claim you hate who I was, but that's the reason you here now
You think I don't know what's up, but sweetheart that's what ruined us
I ain't afraid to say I got needs
But the only time you here for me is when the bottles poppin' and everything is sweet
But I I'm tired of sleeping in the other room spending them long nights
Trying to figure out what in the hell in my heart I ain't do right. (Oooh for u)

Aesop Rock - Labour

[Tiggi]

Concentrates on the best era of her career, between '60 & the early '70s.

Etta James had one of the best voices around, and could sound as smooth as silk, and as rough as sandpaper, often in the same syllable. This disc straddles the divide between R&B and Soul, and there's hardly a duff track to be found.

Awesome voice, & awesome music...
