UK album charts 18th Sept:



After a fierce Official Chart battle, Stereophonics have scored their sixth Official Albums Chart topper with Keep The Village Alive.The welsh rockers were locked in an incredibly close battle with Bring Me The Horizon’s That’s The Spirit (Number 2 today) this week and finish just 1300 combined chart sales ahead at the final whistle.
“I love this band. To have got to Number 1 on our own record label is amazing!" Kelly Jones told OfficialCharts.com, "Twenty years in fans old and new have got us to the top! We love ya! Thank You All. Keep YOUR Village Alive”.

Stereophonics now count 11 Top 40 albums with 1999’s Performance And Cocktails, 2001’s Just Enough Education To Perform, 2003’s You Gotta Go There To Come Back, 2005’s Language Sex Violence Other and 2007’s Pull The Pin all previously reaching the Number 1 spot.
Following their reunion earlier this year, The Libertines score their fourth Top 40 today with their first studio album in 11 years Anthems For Doomed Youth at 3, while former chart-topper Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh slides two places to Number 4.

Duran Duran round out this week’s Top 5, scoring their tenth UK Top 10 with Paper Gods (5).
[h=4]New entries[/h]Richard Hawley racks up his fifth solo Top 40 LP with Hollow Meadows (9), while US metal band Slayer score their ninth with Repentless (11).
Leona Lewis’ I Am lands at Number 12, trailed by The Drifters’ Stand By Me – The Very Best Of (17) and Stevie Wonder’s The Definitive Collection (19).

The comebacks keep on coming for Justin Bieber. Two weeks after scoring his first ever UK Number 1 and his fastest selling single, Biebs is back at the top of the Official Singles Chart.
What Do You Mean, which set a new record for the highest first-week streams for a single at 3.2 million plays, was knocked off the summit last week by Sigala’s Jackson 5-sampling Easy Love.
Victory belongs to Justin today, however – he reclaims his Number 1 throne by over 15,000 chart sales, leaving Sigala at Number 2.


What Do You Mean is the most streamed track of the week, notching up over 3.62 million listens this week.

Calvin Harris and Disciples are back up one to Number 3 with How Deep Is Your Love, which scored over 2.1 million plays this week, while former chart-topper Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself from Jess Glynne slips a place to Number 4.
Another track racking up over 2 million listens this week, The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face is a non-mover and rounds off our Top 5.


New entries and high climbers

R City and Adam Levine rocket 23 places with Locked Away, which lands at Number 16, and he aced Bestival last weekend, now he’s the highest new entry on the Official Singles Chart – British MC Stormzy scores his first Top 40 hit with Wickedskengman4, new at Number 18.
Thanks to its use in a Lloyds Bank TV advert, Birdy’s Wings continues its ascent, leaping 10 spots to Number 19, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Downtown also jumps 10 places at 21.
Electronic trio Nero are new at 27 with Two Minds, Drake rises 17 places to 36 with Hotline Bling, while Fetty Wap scores a second top 40 with 679 ft. Remy Boyz.

We’ve been expecting you, Mr Sam Smith… today the star makes Official Chart history by scoring the first ever Number 1 James Bond theme with Writing’s On The Wall.The song, which serves as the title track for the upcoming Bond film Spectre, lands straight in at the top with combined chart sales and streams of 70,000 copies, finishing 13,000 ahead of his closest competitor, Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean?.
Sam told us: “It was such an honour to be asked to write and record Writing’s On The Wall and it’s incredible that it’s become the first Number 1 Bond theme song.
"It’s been an unforgettable experience working with Barbara [Broccoli] and Sam [Mendes] to become part of this British legacy. I couldn’t have done this without my fans – this is a special moment I’ll never forget."

Of the previous 23 James Bond themes, only two have come close to topping the Official Chart; Adele’s Skyfall (2012) and Duran Duran’s A View To A Kill (1985) each peaked at Number 2. Click here to see where every Bond theme has charted.

Writing’s On The Wall becomes Sam’s fifth Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart; following La La La (with Naughty Boy), Money On My Mind, Stay With Me and Lay Me Down. At 00.07 Monday 5[SUP]th[/SUP] October, Global James Bond Day, Sam Smith will unveil the full music video for Writing’s On The Wall.
Elsewhere in this week’s Top 5, R City and Adam Levine hold at 3 with Locked Away, Sigala’s former Number 1 Easy Love slips from 2 to 4, and The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face remains at 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Producer Naughty Boy climbs two places to Number 9 to earn his fifth Top 10 today with Runnin’ (Lose It All), which features Beyonce and Arrow Benjamin, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Downtown now sits just outside the Top 10, up four spots to 11.
Rudimental’s Ed Sheeran collaboration Lay It All On Me earns them their eighth Top 40 hit today, new at 16, and newcomer Nick Brewer makes his Top 40 debut with Talk To Me at 19.
Finally, Little Mix’s Love Me Like You opens at Number 21, and Sia’s Alive debuts at Number 30

UK albums chart 2nd Oct:



Congratulations to sibling duo Disclosure who today notch up their second chart-topping album with Caracal.The pair – real names Howard and Guy Lawrence – first hit Number 1 back in 2013 with their debut Settle, which went on to become one of the Top 40 biggest selling artist albums of that year.
"Can't believe it!" Disclosure told OfficialCharts.com, "So happy and thanks so much to all the people for supporting our music. It means the world and we can't wait to hopefully see you all at a show soon!"

Caracal, which features collaborations with the likes of Sam Smith, The Weeknd, Gregory Porter, Kwabs, Lorde, and Miguel,ends the week over 8,000 copies ahead of its nearest competitor.
Elsewhere, New Order score their highest charting album in 22 years with new release Music Complete (2). The Manchester act’s tenth studio album features collaborations with Brandon Flowers, La Roux and Iggy Pop and marks the group’s tenth UK Top 10. See New Order's full Official Chart history here.

David Gilmour’s Rattle That Lock slides two places to Number 3 this week, followed by Scottish synth-pop group Chvrches. The band’s second album Every Open Eye scores them a new Official Chart peak at Number 4.

Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh is down two places to Number 5 today, counting its sixth week in the Official Albums Chart Top 5.

Fetty Wap’s self-titled debut lands at Number 15, followed by US supergroup The Dead Weather’s Dodge And Burn at 21. Australian metal-core band Parkway Drive make their UK Top 40 debut with Ire (23), as does US singer-songwriter Kurt Vile with B’lieve I’m Goin Down (25).

Bieber's "sorry" hit finally gets displaced from the top of the singles chart this but theres good news and bad news attached to it:
the bad news is....he toppled himself from the top spot.
the good news it...at least it was by "love yourself", the only track of his I can say I like, and it was written by Ed Sheeran.

UK singles chart overview 11th Dec 2015:

Justin Bieber leads this week’s Official Singles Chart yet again, as Love Yourself logs a second week at Number 1.The track, co-written by Ed Sheeran, notched up combined sales of 114,000 and fend off strong competition from his own track Sorry, which holds at Number 2.
Last week, Justin achieved the rare feat of replacing himself at the top of the Official Singles Chart, but his unmoved positions this week make him the first artist ever to knock himself off the top spot with both songs holding at 1 and 2 for two consecutive weeks.

This week’s highest new entry goes to Sigala’s Sweet Lovin’, which debuts at Number 3. The track, which features vocals from Bryn Christopher, follows Easy Love, which hit Number 1 back in September and is certified Gold by the BPI this week for combined sales of over 400,000.
Rounding off this week’s Top 5 are Adele’s Hello (4) and Grace and G-Eazy’s You Don’t Own Me, which logs a second week at Number 5.

Finally, three classic Christmas songs appear in this week’s Top 40; Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You (up 22 places to 13), The Pogues ft Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale Of New York (up 38 places to 20), and Wham’s Last Christmas (up 38 places to 27).

UK albums chart overview 11th Dec 2015:

They put up an admirable fight, but not even the power of Coldplay was enough to topple the mighty Adele from this week’s Official Albums Chart.25 logs a third week at Number 1 with another mammoth week of sales, shifting 354,000 copies over the last seven days – giving Adele the highest third week sales for a Number 1 album since Take That’s The Circus, which logged 382,000 for its third week at Number 1 in 2008

It’s not all bad news for Coldplay though; while their latest collection A Head Full Of Dreams is their first studio album not to debut at Number 1, they score their strongest opening week since 2008’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, racking up sales of 236,000. Their last album, 2014’s Ghost Stories, debuted with 168,000 sales, and 2011’s Mylo Xyloto notched up 208,000 sales in its first week on sale.
Coldplay’s week one sales also give them the highest selling Number 2 album in five years, since Rihanna notched up 249,000 sales of Loud in December 2010.
Meanwhile, Elvis Presley’s If I Can Dream is at Number 3 with combines sales of 105,000 this week, Justin Bieber’s Purpose is at 4, and Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh logs a 16[SUP]th[/SUP] consecutive week in the Top 10, holding at 5.

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]X Factor runner-up Fleur East lands at Number 14 with her debut album Love, Sax and Flashbacks, Kylie Minogue’s Christmas album jumps eight places to Number 18, and Bette Midler’s A Gift Of Love debuts at 26.
Elsewhere, Sigma’s debut album Life enters at Number 28, Josh Groban’s Stages zooms 54 places back into the Top 40 at 31, and Jools Holland and Ruby Turner’s collaborative album Jools & Ruby bows at 39.
