UK album chart overview or 18th December 2015....:
Adeleâs 25 is today set to become the fastest 2 million-selling album in UK music history, smashing all previous records.By last night (December 17), the singerâs third album had reached 1.970 million sales, having sold between 46,000 and 61,000 copies a day for the past week. Barring a massive (and highly unlikely) collapse in sales, it will hit the 2 million mark sometime this afternoon â just its 29th day on sale.
In comparison, Adeleâs 21 (the second biggest selling studio album in history) took 13 weeks to reach the 2 million mark.
At its current rate of sales, 21 is likely to pass the 2.5 million sales by the end of the year â also in record time and putting it into the Top 40 biggest selling studio albums of all time in the UK.
Chart records indicate that the closest rival to Adele is Robson & Jeromeâs 1995 debut album. Records from the time indicate that it took 42 days to reach the 2 million landmark.
Unsurprisingly, 25 continues to lead this weekâs Official Albums Chart, logging a fourth consecutive week at Number 1.
Elsewhere on this weekâs tally, Elvis Presley scores his strongest sales week yet with his If I Can Dream Album, notching up combined sales of 121,000 for its seventh week on the tally, climbing a place to Number 2 this week.
Coldplayâs A Head Full Of Dreams slips to 3, Justin Bieberâs Purpose holds at 4 and Jess Glynneâs I Cry When I Laugh completes this weekâs Top 5.
With few new releases out this week, there are no new entries in this weekâs Top 40, though a number of albums have re-entered: Hozierâs self-titled debut (up 20 places to 30), Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbottâs Wisdom Laughter And Lines (up 19 spots to 35), ELOâs All Over The World (up 5 to 37), and Ben Haenowâs self-titled (up 4 to 40).

The feat means Bieber sets a new Official Chart record today as the first artist ever to log four weeks at Numbers 1 and 2 consecutively. The previous record holder was The Beatles, who logged three consecutive weeks at Numbers 1 and 2 in 1967/68 with Hello Goodbye and Magical Mystery Tour (EP).

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Stormzy vaults from 91 to Number 8 with Shut Up. The British MC has launched a campaign to get the track, which was unveiled back in May this year, to Number 1 this Christmas. Will he continue to climb next week?
Elsewhere in the Top 10, X Factor winner Louisa Johnson enters at Number 9 with her winnerâs single Forever Young. The track, a cover of Bob Dylanâs Forever Young, marks the first Dylan song to hit the Top 10 since Adeleâs Make You Feel My Love reached Number 7 in January 2011.
Following their emotional performance on last weekâs X Factor final, One Directionâs History reaches a new peak at Number 11 today, marking their 15[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 20 single. 99 Souls leap five places to reach a new peak at Number 18 with Girl Is Mine, and US singer Shawn Mendes lands his first UK Top 40 single with Stitches, which jumps from 41 to Number 29.

UK singles chart 25th December 2015:

Theyâve only gone and done it! The NHS Choir topple global pop heavyweight Justin Bieber to secure the UKâs Official Christmas Number 1 2015.Itâs been the closest festive chart battle witnessed since Rage Against The Machineâs scintillating victory over The X Factorâs Joe McElderry in 2009, but the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir today claim the coveted yuletide chart crown with their charity single A Bridge Over You.
The choir jingle all the way to the Official Chartâs Christmas top spot today with total combined chart sales of 127,000, nearly 31,000 ahead of their rival.
Following a thrilling week-long tussle which saw the choir racing neck and neck with Bieber right down to the final whistle, the NHS Choir tell OfficialCharts.com: "We are absolutely overwhelmed and couldnât be any happier!
"Itâs a brilliant celebration for the NHS across the country so well done and thank you everyone for downloading and streaming. A massive cheer for the NHS, thank you!â
Despite leading the race at the beginning of the chart week by 5,000 copies, the choristersâ early lead narrowed after 48 hrs to just over 2,000 copies, and by day 3 (Monday) the tide had turned in favour of the Canadian pop superstar.
By Tuesday it was looking like Bieber might have the race locked down as his advantage extended to 7,000 chart sales, but then the choirâs appearance on BBC Radio 2âs Chris Evans Breakfast Show that morning helped them claw back ground, the gap once again narrowed overnight, leaving a nail-biting 662 copies between the two contenders on Wednesday morningâs sales flash.
In a dramatic turn of events Bieber then tweeted his support to his NHS rivals, whose campaign supports the hard work done by doctors, nurses, midwives and many others in the NHS, with proceeds set to be donated to a selection of charities including Carers UK and mental health charity Mind.
All is not lost for Bieber though, as he still claims 3 positions in the Official Chart Top 10 with Love Yourself (2), Sorry (3) and What Do You Mean (5) to round off his remarkable year in pop.
Other notable race contenders this year included unsigned act Stormzy, whose #ShutUpForXmasNo1 campaign sees him finish at Number 9 this week, and X Factor winner, Louisa Johnson is at 12 with her winner's single Forever Young.
And finally, five festive classics appear in this week's Top 40: Mariah Careyâs All I Want For Christmas Is You (11), Poguesâ Fairytale Of New York(13), Wham's Last Christmas (18), Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday (27), Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas (29) and Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas? (38).
