What album do you own that you think no one else on the forum owns?

My collection is small by the standards of many people on music sites, but nevertheless I have a number of albums that I doubt very much anyone else on the forum can claim. What about you?

Rules:

(1) Submit no more than one album title per day, unless someone else on the forum says they also have it, in which case you may submit another.

(2) It must be an actual released album that is, or was, available for general purchase, not some bootleg you have put together yourself or your own bands unreleased album.

(3) You must have actually bought it. Downloads are admissible provided you actually paid for it. If it was a gift, someone else must have paid for it on your behalf.

Linda Perhacs - The Soul of All Natural Things




Some of you may know of her first album, Parallelograms, released in 1970. This album here is only her second, released 44 years after her first.

The lady's career has been interesting and unusual, to say the least. She was told she could have been a worthy rival to Joni Mitchell, but she had no interest in pursuing a celebrity lifestyle and preferred to make a career for herself in the field of dental hygiene.

As for the music, it is quite ethereal, and I think this second album is perhaps even better than the first.

One can never safely make assumptions, but I’m fairly sure no-one else here will have this one, and I’m pleased to say, I own two copies of this record – they are somewhat sought after, the vinyls, that is … from South Africa – the one and only album made by Canamii – Concept.

Created by some highly musical individuals who worked as techies in a state of the art studio (at the time) in Jo’burg, and who combined their talents to make this wonderful album in their spare time – pretty much, with the blessing of their employers. I bought it, unheard, for the cover artwork and was considered a bit odd because I loved the music … not a new experience for me! The quality is exceptional and it’s a fab listen, IMHO. The clip doesn’t flow as nicely as the record, but that’s all there is … great album – should have been heard more …

@Ruby: Would that cover be a Roger Dean creation by any chance?

I'll give that clip a full listen tomorrow, but listening to a little bit of it it sounds very much in the Krautrock vein, as thought they listened to a lot of Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream.

From that description, I did not expect to like the song, but that was better than I expected. Not particularly "hard", more like some kind of jazz fusion.

I have what may be every song from Billy Joe Royal that was placed on a CD. I wonder how many other people have that much material of his still.

P.S. I just wish that his self named albums released in 1980 and 1981 had been converted to CDs as well as his album named Billy Joe Royal Featuring Hush released in 1967.
