from the vinyl shed
the bands fifth and final album
and I was still into them
their highest selling and their first #1 here
it's all good except for that dreadful Mother thing
it won 3 Grammy's but not the big one
a rare instance where a band quits at the peak of their success
my fav

Their best album by far IMO, and I have them all on vinyl and this on cd also.
Sting always said he admired Paul Weller for disbanding The Jam at their peak and he intended doing the same with Police.
BTW,
The Jam split with a UK #1 album, their last three UK singles were #1, #2 and #1, plus a string of nights at Wembley Stadium,
It don't get bigger than that in the UK.
Both Weller and Sting have been offered huge amounts of money to reform their bands over the years...the Police did reform a few years ago for a world tour but Weller refuses to reform The Jam citing 'it wouldn't be the same, that magic wouldn't be there',
For me, it would be good but after seeing the reformed Police, I'd probably be disappointed with the result.
The past should remain just that...pleasant memories.

their last album
and they still sounded good
#9 here but their only album to not go Gold
I have all of the albums except Two Against Nature
which was their Grammy winner
don't think I've ever heard it
will spotlight this track
as it is the only track Becker has ever had lead vocal on
seems I prefer Fagan

I have 'Two Against Nature' - not their finest hour IMO.

it was interesting at the time
Neil with horns
I may have even liked that title track
with it being anti corporate sponsorship
but I don't now
his seventeenth album
only reached #61 here
it was the first back on his Reprise label after his detour to Geffen
I really only like the few slower tracks

not a bad thing on this debut album
broke them with Born To Be Wild at #2
that and The Pusher got some help from Easy Rider
the album peaked at #6
good one to have in both formats
