only thing I have by this Rhode Island band
surprised to see their albums charting in the UK but not here
this is the 6th album and reached #10 on the island
it was the band's last release with a major
struggling on the indie scene since
last release in 2013

this was the single from this one

I've heard of them - think they were popular around the turn of the millennium but didn't make many waves in this country.

I always get the singer confused with the chick from The Pretenders... their names are similar.

Currently listening to a podcast of a favourite radio programme: "Golden Apples of the Sun".

Check the track listing - you will find some interesting names there as well as a number you have probably never heard of. Podcasts stay up for about a month.

I actually own one of those tracks, on an album I own. I wonder if you can guess which one?

Listening to some Kscope podcasts.

In cases you don't know, Kscope are a UK music label who refer to themselves as a "post-progressive label."

Quote:The Kscope label was founded as a means of providing a platform for a growing number of artists that had started to reclaim and reinvent aspects of the Progressive genre.

The "post-progressive podcast" is produced once a month and showcases acts that are signed to the label. Such acts include: Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree/No-man, Anathema, The Pineapple Thief, Engineers, Iamthemorning, Nosound and several others.

THE STONE ROSES "the stone roses" cd, 1989

career stats:
studio albums................2
singles.........................15

this album................#5 UK...#36 AU...#62 CAN...#11 NZ...#86 US
singles:
"sugar spun sisters".......#9 UK
"she bangs the drums"..#20 UK...#128 AU
"i wanna be adored"......no chart action
"fools gold"..................#8 UK...#13 AU

debut set from these UK alt rockers.....
sort of pseudo psychedelic in places, in act,
this is where they trace the roots of modern psychedelia back to, and obviously
in return they probably could trace Stone Roses back to the early 1970s or late 1960s...!
one song..."she bangs the drums", at least they had an idea about what 'she bang's' because Ricky Martin
sure as hell didn't know, he just knew that she bangs!
these guys only ever made two albums for some strange reason, in fact I cant remember ever hearing anything
off the second one at all.....!
and the expects predicted huge things for this band, I guess maybe they imploded because they were young and couldn't
cope with the high hopes, hype and expectations that were heaped on them by the UK music press?!?!
they finally reformed recently and have a new album coning out shortly, I posted the single a while ago and liked it,
so looking foreward to hearing the album...
