AUSTRALIAN charts for 6th August 2016:

singles:

Major Lazer remains atop the ARIA Singles Chart for a second week with ‘Cold Water’. It becomes the trio’s longest run in the top spot, with previous #1 ‘Lean On’ (#1 Apr. ’15) only holding #1 for one week.
A jump of seven spots for ‘Crash’ gives Usher his twelfth top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart and first since ‘More’ peaked at #7 in 2011. The R&B star first hit the top ten with ‘You Make Me Wanna’ (#6 Apr. ’98) and has scored #1s with ‘Yeah!’ (#1 Mar. ’04) and ‘OMG’ (#1 May ’10).
After debuting at #42 last week, Jonas Blue’s ‘Perfect Strangers’ becomes this week’s biggest mover, jumping 31 spots to #11.
There are also moves this week for Shawn Mendes’ ‘Treat You Better’ (up one to a new peak at #4), Anne-Marie’s ‘Alarm’ (up three to #7), Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ (up 14 to #19), Mike Perry’s ‘The Ocean’ (up 12 to #27) and Snakehips’ ‘Cruel’ (up seven to #34).
Debuts:
#2: The Chainsmokers Feat. Halsey ‘Closer’ – The fourth Singles Chart entry for The Chainsmokers. ‘Closer’ becomes the American DJ duo’s highest debut and peak. They’ve previously charted with ‘#SELFIE’ (#3 Apr. ’14), ‘Roses’ (#5 Feb. ’16) and ‘Don't Let Me Down’ (#3 Apr. ’16).
#26: Kenny Chesney Feat. P!nk ‘Setting The World On Fire’ – The debut ARIA Singles Chart entry for American country Kenny Chesney. Featuring P!nk, ‘Setting The World On Fire’ is the second single from Chesney’s forthcoming seventeenth studio album, Cosmic Hallelujah. Chesney has had three albums appear in the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart, peaking highest with The Big Revival (#31 Oct. ’14).
#40: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Feat. Xperience ‘Brad Pitt’s Cousin’ – The third single to chart from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s second album This Unruly Mess I've Made (#6 Mar. ’16). It follows on from ‘Downtown’ (#1 Oct. ’15) and ‘Dance Off’ (#7 Mar. ’16).

For the second straight week, Human Nature’s Gimme Some Lovin': Jukebox Vol. II is #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Of the Sydney group’s four #1 albums, Dancing In The Streets: The Songs Of Motown II has the most weeks at #1 with four.
This week’s top five features four Australian artists. The only non-Aussie is Adele, who’s moved up one spot to #3 with 25.
The biggest moves up the chart this week come from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ This Unruly Mess I’ve Made (up 14 to #11), Sia’s This Is Acting (up 20 to #18) and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (up five to #23).
Troye Sivan has re-entered the chart at #27 with Blue Neighbourhood. It comes on the back of his current national tour.
Debuts:
#2: Gang Of Youths ‘Let Me Be Clear’ – Just over a year on from The Positions, Sydney’s Gang Of Youths return with Let Me Be Clear. The new release is a six track EP which includes a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’. The Positions debuted at #5 in April 2015 and earned the band five ARIA Awards nominations last year.
#4: Hellions ‘Opera Oblivia’ – The third album from Sydney post-hardcore band Hellions. The follow-up to Indian Summer (#19 Feb. ’15), Opera Oblivia becomes the band’s highest-charting album and first top ten.
#5: Alfie Arcuri ‘Zenith’ – 2016 winner of The Voice Alfie Arcuri makes his Albums Chart debut with Zenith. The album features covers of tracks by the likes of James Bay, Daniel Merriweather, Zayn and Sam Smith.
#6: DJ Khaled ‘Major Key’ – The top 50 debut for American producer DJ Khaled. Major Key is DJ Khaled’s ninth album and includes collaborations with Jay Z, Future, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Meghan Trainor and more.
#19: Descendents ‘Hypercaffium Spazzinate’ – Veteran Californian punks the Descendents snare their first ever top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Hypercaffium Spazzinate. The band’s seventh album is their first since 2004’s Cool To Be You and the first since regrouping in 2010.
#26: Billy Talent ‘Afraid Of Heights’ – Canadian punk band Billy Talent return with their first album in four years, Afraid Of Heights. It’s the band’s fifth album and third to chart in the top 50 locally; having previously charted with Billy Talent III (#44 Jul. ’09) and Dead Silence (#36 Sept. ’12).
#35: Zhu ‘Generationwhy’ – After making his ARIA Albums Chart debut with The Nightday EP (#6 May ’14), Zhu picks up a second entry with Generationwhy. The American producer’s debut album features the single ‘Working For It’ (#30 Feb. 16).
#38: Soundtrack ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ – The soundtrack to the film adaptation of popular British comedy Absolutely Fabulous. The album includes tracks by Kylie Minogue (singing a new version of the theme tune ‘This Wheel’s On Fire’), Paloma Faith, La Roux, Jason Derulo, Eartha Kitt, Nancy Sinatra, Santigold and more.
#40: Jarryd James ‘High’ – A year on from Thirty One (#2 Sept. ’15), Brisbane singer-songwriter Jarryd James scores his second Albums Chart entry with High. The new six track EP features the collaboration with NZ duo Broods, ‘1000x’ (#47 Jun. ’16).

UK songs/singles charts for 12th August 2016:



Major Lazer, MØ and Justin Bieber are Number 1 for a third consecutive week with Cold Water, fending off... Justin Bieber.Justin's new collaboration with DJ Snake Let Me Love You is a new entry at Number 2, boasting strong combined chart sales of 70,000. Despite LMLY being the most purchased single of the week with 40,000 sold, JB's featured slot on Major Lazer's track is still Number 1 with 93,000 combined chart sales, and was the most streamed song over the past seven days.

The rest of this week's Top 5 are made up of music that all slips one place since last week. Calum Scott's Dancing On My Own falls from 2 to 3, Jonas Blue and JP Cooper's Perfect Strangers drops from 3 to 4, and The Chainsmokers' Don't Let Me Down featuring Daya slips one spot to 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Rocketing 11 places to this week's Number 9 is twenty one pilots' Suicide Squad soundtrack single Heathens, the first UK Top 10 single for the Ohio duo. The Chainsmokers are back with another Top 20 entry this week, their Halsey collaboration Closer has risen 21 ranks to Number 12, Halsey's first Top 20 single in the UK.

MØ's Final Song hops up one place on the chart to Number 14 and Christine and the Queens' Tilted also jolts one position, hitting the Top 20 for the first time at 20. Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez's We Don't Talk Anymore is up three to 23, closely followed by Fifth Harmony's All In My Head (Flex), which enjoys a jump of 11 to Number 25.
Suicide Squad soundtrack cut Sucker For Pain marks a 19th Top 40 hit for Lil Wayne, an 8th for Wiz Khalifa and Imagine Dragons' 7th. The track which also features X Ambassadors, Logic and Ty Dolla $ign is this week's joint highest climber, rising 37 places to 28.
Finally, another song that experienced a 37 spot boost on the Official Singles Chart is Tieks and Dan Harkna's Sunshine. Featured on a Fiat 500 advert, the song vaults from 68 to 31.

UK albums charts for 12th August 2016:



Stockport five-piece Blossoms have gone straight in at Number 1 with their debut album.Garnering airplay and Record of the Week status on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6 Music has helped the band steamroll the competition. Tom, Charlie, Josh, Joe and Myles finished 9,500 copies ahead of their nearest rival to take their self-titled album to the top spot.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, the band said: "We're absolutely made up that the album has gone to Number 1. From the scaffolding yard to the top of the charts, who'd have thought it? Viva Stockport!"
This week's runner-up is British rapper Giggs. His fourth studio album Landlord is 19 places higher than his previous Official Albums Chart best, 2013's When Will It Stop which reached Number 21. The rest of the Top 5 is made up of Drake's Views which is up one place to 3, ELO's All Over The World - The Very Best Of at 4, and last week's self-titled Number 1 from the late Viola Beach (5).

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Aside from an all-new British Top 2, another two UK entries feature in this week's Top 10. Indie rockers Wild Beasts scoop a second Top 10 album with Boy King (9), one position higher than their previous studio collection Present Tense. Emo group Moose Blood hit the Top 40 for the first time with their second studio record Blush, a new entry at Number 10.

Elvis Presley's final studio recordings make up Way Down in The Jungle Room, a new 2-disc compilation new in at Number 16. Dinosaur Jr.'s first album in four years Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not is new at 23, their fourth Top 40 entry.
Lady in Gold, the second album from Swedish rock group Blues Pills is new at 31, closely followed by The Cadillac Three's sophomore release Bury Me In My Boots, a Top 40 debut at 33.
Australian/American rockers The Dead Daisies enter the Top 40 for the first time at 35 with Make Some Noise, and finally, Michael Jackson's former chart topper Number Ones makes a welcome return to the Top 40, up nine spots to 39.

#17: Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic ‘Sucker For Pain’ – In what has to be one of the most unique and diverse combination of artists, Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa have teamed up with the likes of Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Ty Dolla $ign and Logic to deliver ‘Sucker For Pain’, a genre-bending anthem from this week’s #1 album, Suicide Squad: The Album.
#39: Skrillex & Rick Ross ‘Purple Lamborghini’ – Also from Suicide Squad: The Album, ‘Purple Lamborghini’ brings together dubstep producer Skrillex and rapper Rick Ross.

The soundtrack to new superhero blockbuster Suicide Squad has taken out the #1 on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart (see below).
This week’s top ten features six debuts and one re-entry. The re-entry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ This Unruly Mess I've Made, makes its way back up the chart to #6 on the back of the duo’s current national tour.
Also on tour, Troye Sivan has moved up nine spots to sit at #18 with Blue Neighbourhood.
After returning to the top 50 in June, Eminem’s The Eminem Show returns to the top 50 again, this time at #34.
With no new album in sight, Frank Ocean’s channel ORANGE re-enters the top 50 at #48.
Debuts:
#1: Soundtrack ‘Suicide Squad: The Album’ – The soundtrack to the new film based on characters from the DC Comics universe. Suicide Squad: The Album includes Eminem’s ‘Without Me’ (#1 May ’02), Grace’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’ (#1 May ’15) and Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ (#5 Aug. ’16). Two tracks from the album, ‘Sucker For Pain’ by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic and ‘Purple Lamborghini’ by Skrillex & Rick Ross, have debuted at #17 and #39 respectively, this week.
#2: Bernard Fanning ‘Civil Dusk’ – The third solo album from former Powderfinger front man Bernard Fanning. Civil Dusk is the follow-up to Departures (#1 Jun. ’13). Fanning’s debut solo album, Tea And Sympathy, debuted at #1 in November 2005.
#4: Montaigne ‘Glorious Heights’ – Montaigne makes her ARIA Albums Chart debut with Glorious Heights. The Sydney singer-songwriter’s debut album comes two years on from her debut EP Life Of Montaigne. In March this year, Montaigne peaked at #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart as a featured artist on the Hilltop Hoods track ‘1955’.
#7: Skillet ‘Unleashed’ – With their tenth studio album, American Christian rock band Skillet pick up their first appearance in the ARIA top 50. The group released their self-titled debut in 1996. Unleashed is the follow-up to 2013’s Rise.
#9: Elvis Presley ‘Way Down In The Jungle Room’ – A new two-disc bringing together Elvis Presley’s final recordings. The tracks were recorded primarily in February and October of 1976 at Graceland. Presley reached #1 in November 2015 with the album If I Can Dream, which featured The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
#10: DJ Snake ‘Encore’ – The debut album from French producer DJ Snake. Encore features the singles ‘Middle’ (#5 Dec. ’15) and ‘Let Me Love You’ (#3 this week). Guests include Justin Bieber, Mr Hudson, Skrillex and Swizz Beatz.
#13: Dustin Tebbutt ‘First Light’ – Dustin Tebbutt releases debut album First Light. It’s the Sydney singer-songwriter’s second Albums Chart appearance. The EP Home peaked at #34 in September 2015,
#27: Play School ‘Famous Friends (Celebrating 50 Years)’ – As part of Play School’s 50th birthday celebrations, Famous Friends brings together a stellar cast of Australian personalities to perform much-loved nursery rhymes and stories from the series. Old favourites such as Benita Collings, John Hamblin and Don Spencer are joined by the likes of You Am I, Dan Sultan, Emma Wiggle, Carrie Bickmore, Katie Noonan, Missy Higgins, Josh Thomas and more. It’s the second Play School release to chart this year, following on from 50 Best Songs (#17 Jul. ’16).
#30: Storm The Sky ‘Sin Will Find You’ – The second album from Melbourne metalcore band Storm The Sky. Sin Will Find You comes 18 months on from the band’s debut Permanence (#45 Jan. ’15).
#36: Jack Carty ‘Home State’ – Album four from Brisbane-based Jack Carty. The singer-songwriter has previously released One Thousand Origami Birds (2011), Break Your Own Heart (2012) and Esk (2014).
#38: Dinosaur Jr. ‘Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not’ – Indie rock legends Dinosaur Jr. return with Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not. The band’s eleventh album – and the fourth since the reunion of the original line-up – is their first to hit the top 50 since Without A Sound (#13 Sept. ’94).
#41: Alan Jackson ‘Genuine: The Alan Jackson Story’ – A new three disc collection, spanning the career of American country music star Alan Jackson. Jackson released his first album, New Traditional, in 1987. He most recently charted with his twentieth album, Angels And Alcohol (#4 Aug. ’15); his highest ARIA Charts peak.
#45: Alex Lloyd ‘Acoustica’ – Singer-songwriter Alex Lloyd hits the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time since Amazing: The Best Of Alex Lloyd (#34 Sept. ’06) with Acoustica. The album features re-interpretations of some of Lloyd’s best-known songs including 'Amazing' (#14 Nov. ’01) and 'Coming Home' (#24 Aug. ’03), as well as a cover of Leonard Cohen’s 'Hallelujah'.

The Official Singles Chart is still feeling the shock of Cold Water this week, as the song logs a fourth consecutive stint at Number 1 today.The Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and MØ collaboration shifted just shy of 83,000 combined sales (made up of 26,000 downloads and 5.67 million streams) over the last seven days to hold off competition from DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You, which holds at Number 2 for a second week.

Calum Scott continues to enjoy success with his cover of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, a non-mover at Number 3 for its sixth week in the Top 5, and Chainsmokers zoom from 12 to Number 4 today with their Halsey collaboration Closer.

Canadian rapper Drake rises one place to 2 with Views, while ELO advance one spot and settle for Number 3 with hits collection All Over The World. Christine & the Queens' Chaleur Humaine is up two to 4, while Bob Marley and the Wailers' hits collection Legend moves up six places to return to the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers
The 1975's second album I Like It When You Sleep… returns to the Top 10, advancing 12 places to Number 9, and this week's highest brand new entry comes from Canadian PartyNextDoor, who scores a new UK chart personal best with PartyNextDoor (P3) going straight in at 11.
Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour climbs 10 slots to 22, Michael Jackson's Number Ones zooms 12 to 27, and Taylor Swift's 1989 rises 10 places to land at Number 28 today.
Eight albums make a reappearance in the Top 40 this week: Eminem's Curtain Call (30); Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits zooms 16 places to 32; Queen's Greatest Hits (33); Gregory Porter's Liquid Spirit up 16 to 34; Bastille's debut Bad Blood (35), Rihanna's Anti (37), Years & Years' Communion (38); and Adele's 21 is back up to 39.

singles:

American duo The Chainsmokers hold #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a second straight week with ‘Closer’.
‘Let Me Love You’ by French producer DJ Snake has moved up one spot in its second week in the top 50 to sit at #2.
Moves of one spot inside the top ten have also given new peaks to Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ (#4) and Jonas Blue’s ‘Perfect Strangers’ (#6).
A week on from debuting at #17, ‘Sucker For Pain’ by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Ty Dolla $ign and Logic has moved five spots to #12.
Mike Perry’s ‘The Ocean’ is up eight spots to claim a new peak at #14.
Debuts:
#9: Betty Who ‘I Love You Always Forever’ – Sydney-born artist Betty Who makes her top 50 debut on the ARIA Singles Chart. ‘I Love You Always Forever’ is a cover of the Donna Lewis hit. The original peaked at #2 in October 1996.
#32: Tove Lo ‘Cool Girl’ – After a number of appearances as a featured artist, including on Alesso’s ‘Heroes (We Could Be)’ (#11 Oct. ’14) and Flume’s ‘Say It’ (#5 Jun. ’16), Tove Lo returns to the top 50 as a lead artist for the first time since 2014 with ‘Cool Girl’. The first single from the Swedish singer-songwriter’s forthcoming second album Lady Wood is her second top 50 single, following on from ‘Stay High (Habits Remix)’ (#3 Jun. ’14).
#33: Martin Garrix ‘In The Name Of Love’ – Dutch DJ/producer Martin Garrix charts in the top 50 for the first time since ‘Animals’ (#29 Sept. ’13) with ‘In The Name Of Love’. The track features vocals by Bebe Rexha, who previously charted as a featured on Nico & Vinz’ track ‘That's How You Know’ (#2 Aug. ’15).
#41: DNCE ‘Toothbrush’ – The second single from American band DNCE. Debut track ‘Cake By The Ocean’, which peaked #6 in June, sits at #27 this week.

The Amity Affliction has become the fourteenth Australian act to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016, debuting in the top spot with their fifth album This Could Be Heartbreak. Fourteen Australian #1s in a equalling calendar year equals the ARIA record set in 2013.
A move of 13 spots in its 33rd week in the top 50 has given Blurryface its first top ten appearance. Twenty One Pilots’ fourth album previously peaked at #11 when it debuted on the chart in May 2015.
There have been further moves back into the top ten for Delta Goodrem’s Wings Of The Wild (up three to #8) and Beyonce’s Lemonade (up three to #9).
Among those also making moves up the Albums Chart this week are Hilltop Hoods’ Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung (up 18 to #11), Disturbed’s Immortalized (up 13 to #12) and Peter Garrett’s A Version Of Now (up eight to #25).
DJ Khaled’s Major Key is the week’s biggest re-entry, returning to the chart at #35.
Debuts:
#1: The Amity Affliction ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ – Gympie metalcore band The Amity Affliction pick up their third straight #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with This Could Be Heartbreak. The band’s fifth album follows Chasing Ghosts (#1 Sept. ’12) and Let The Ocean Take Me (#1 Jun. ’14) into the top spot.
#13: PartyNextDoor ‘PartyNextDoor 3’ – The second album from PartyNextDoor gives the Canadian artist his first appearance in the ARIA top 50. PartyNextDoor 3 features an appearance by labelmate Drake.
#38: Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Fit for An Autopsy ‘The Depression Sessions’ – A split six track EP released by Deathcore bands Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain and Fit for An Autopsy. Sydney’s Thy Art Is Murder last charted with the album Holy War (#7 Jul. ’15). This is the first time American bands The Acacia Strain and Fit for An Autopsy have appeared in the top 50.
#40: Michael Stein & Kyle Dixon ‘Stranger Things, Vol. 1’ – The soundtrack to the hit Netflix sci-fi series Stranger Things. Dixon and Stein’s are members of Austin, Texas-based experimental synth quartet S U R V I V E.
