My three would be

1) Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds................Excellent music good story telling and top class artists from several areas of entrainment to give an excellent performance.

2) Queen ...A Night At The Opera

3) The Who.........The extended form of Who's Next which is the living remains of the concept album "Lifehouse"

I didn't know A Night At The Opera was a concept album

I guess it is on the boarder but the intention I think was to give the impression of a simple performance by a rock band elevated ( By Queen themselves ) to the level of a performance of a modern opera or comic opperetta .

Most of the tracks do link together to give the impression of someones lifestyle or maybe the story of events in a stereotype person of Edwardian England( an toff or a society gentleman ) , the format is that of the kind of thing one might find in music hall/opera and the inclusion of the English national anthem ( Which was always played at the end of a performance in England up until around the late sixties) ties the whole thing together as an kind of operatic rock performance.

That is my reading of he album , I might be wrong but I always saw it as a concept album..:wink:

This is one of my favourite albums of all time. I didn't fall in love with the movie, but I saw a fantastic amateur production when I was younger and it's been with me ever since.

I do agree movie wasn't that great.. but the album was over the top..

I have yet to see Quadrophenia & the others...

About Movie adaptations of concept albums, I think The Wall was awesome.

I have yet to experience War of the Worlds, I have only heard Forever Autumn & I love it..

I am not sure if it's a concept album but Rush's 2112 is great.
