What Are You Listening To?
No, not chicken. It is easy listening. Kind that will put me to sleep.
Just was not paying enough attention.

IGGY POP "post pop depression" cd, 2016

career stats:
studio albums.............20
singles.......................15

this album..................#17 US...#16 CAN...#11 NZ...#5 UK
singles:
"gardenia"...................no chart action

twentieth and latest effort from Iggy...
I only own this one, his first two (which I love) and a double set compilation...
its Iggy, end of story, his style hasn't changed in over forty years...
very little I like on this one though, just sounds flat and insipid for the most part...
lyrics aren't too bad though...
would probably fit into the "don't like" category if I scored it...
one stand out track for me, linked below:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

MENTAL AS ANYTHING "get wet" vinyl/cd 1979

career stats:
studio album................13
singles.........................40

this album.........#19 AU
singles:
"the nips are getting bigger"......#16
"possible theme for a future
tv drama series".......................#39
"Egypt"...................................no chart action

debut set from this Aussie new wave/pop band...
from memory I have five of their albums, the first five I think?....
this one went platinum out here as did several others over their career...
band still tours but haven't released any new material in almost a decade...
definite new wave feel on most tracks, a hint of country on others and straight out
pop on other tracks...
lyrics are often novelty, but not funny novelty, more light hearted like Dr Hook's tracks...
best track here or me is their debut single...
if you don't know what 'nips' are, theyre what we call 'shots', 'fingers' in a bar, as per spirit drinks.
a good album, not great, would probably score a 2.0 if I scored the tracks...

JAMES McCARTNEY "the blackberry train" 2016:

I don't own this, I listened a couple of times on Spotify...
son of Sir Paul, his second album...
Paul lends a hand with drums, keys and some guitar...
James wrote all tracks...
songs do draw Macca similarities at times...
vocals, a cross between Paul and Neil Finn...
some good soft rock sounds on here, a couple I didn't like,
but overall, not a bad album when you distance yourself from
his famous dad's legacy...

from the album, my favourite track:

MENTAL AS ANYTHING "cats and dogs" cd/vinyl 1981

Aussie alternative/new wave band...
third album...
four singles lifted off it here...
an eclectic album,
alternative songs, country influenced songs and pop...
songs are tongue-in-cheek in places..
"berserk warriors" is a humorous look at Anna/Bjorn's divorce...
elsewhere, theres several that focus around drinking and relationship breakup...
all up, a pretty good album:
from the album, link to my favourite track.
