 Hello . The Song "Sweet Home Alabama" . Out of the many that have doen this classic , was it ever done by "Kid Rock" ? I know they did that one "All Summer Long" which has the words Sweet Home Alabama" in it . Just prior to when All Summer Long came out here in the UK one used to keep hearing Sweet Home Alabama on the radio . I was under the impression it was Kid Rock but now I am not so sure . Could well have been Lynard Skynard . Dose anybody know ?

:blah:

I don't think Kid Rock covered the entire song, apart from that minor inspiration it drew on
All Summer Long.
But you could be talking about this.

Could you describe the vocal of the version you heard..
What about the intro of the song, was it similar to the Lynrdd Skynrd version.

Yes it was very similer . As it goes , it was on a radio station Ociam FM which are not too good at letting you know who is doing what . But I could have sworn it siad somewhere along the line it was Kid Rock . Then when all summer long came out I could have sworn the said a new one form kid rock as if it was a follow up . However it does sound very similer to Lynrdd Skynrd which is why I have to admit that I think I could have picked it up wornd . Thanks David

Hank Jr. is the son of the legendary Hank Williams. Although he has had a few good songs over the years, I never was a big fan. Family Tradition is probably my fav.

On this subject I am now able to confirm that Kid Rock did not so "Sweet Home Alabama ." The version that was being played on the radio a lot was by Lynyrd Synyrd . Just had it comfirmed for the DJ who used to work at the Ocean FM station . However , in view of the song "All Summer Long " and how that it has the lyrics "Sweet Home Alabama" in it I am surprised that Kid Rock have never had a shot at it . Reckon they could do it alright , and do it well . So go on Kid Rock , go for it .

Don't do it Kid. Leave a classic alone.

He could do it, But best to leave it alone.. The original one is still alive & kicking..
Maybe Madonna should do it. :-P

Like it . Best quote so far that . Hadn't thought of that one but doing what she did with American Pie , which let's face it , wether to one's taste or not she carried it off well . So I would say that nothing is beyond her talents .
As for other people doing it , well it has been done bye others and though I forget who just now , having a flick through Npster once catching what was quite a lot of versions on the 30 second listen most seemed okay . I would go as far as to say that it is one of those songs that many could do .
