The introduction to this youtube clip claims "Karajan's Mahler is unsurpassed” I’ll take Bernstien or Bruno Walter anytime over Karajan.

Shame about the audio quality and camera work but can you imagine what it feels like at age 12 unleashing a monster of an instrument like that?

This is an odd one. I can see the cleverness and originality but the atonalism puts my teeth on edge. I can’t stop thinking “I wish they’d tuned their instruments properly”. I also keep thinking “ Wish they’d turn the lights up"

Here’s another one played in the dark. Earlier than the one above and just prior to atonalism tearing apart most classical music.

Lisa Fischer takes a 17th Century lament and by combining
both classical and Jazz vocal techniques makes this something else.
Why this woman hasn't released any CD's/DVD's/downloads is a mystery.

^She has - but just the one - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_Intense

If you haven't seen 20 Feet From Stardom, you might want to watch it at some point - she's one of the heavily featured singers.

It seems to be the performance dynamic she prefers (in a nutshell) ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_Feet_from_Stardom
