Could someone explain to me what this term means.
Jay-Z has a track called Death of Auto-Tune and I heard it used on another r&b song. Neither explained it. Little help please?

Auto-tune is a often used studio technique that corrects someone's off-key singing. It "automatically tunes" it. It is used quite a bit in pop music to make people sound better than they really are.

Recently it has become a fad to purposely overuse Auto-Tune to give the singer this strange almost robotic voice. The singer T-Pain has based his career on the technique. He guests on many a top-40 rap or rn'b song. Kayne West recorded most of his last entire album using Auto-Tune. It is a fad that I hope is on the way out. So does Jay-Z!

Yes, thanks for these explanations.

A band I love, Guttermouth, have done a video about some software like that. But I don't know if its really true, because they are the kind of band with a good humour sense and it may be just a joke. But, it may be true too. If someone have an explanation about this video, just share it. It's here:

I thought this was common knowledge...? T-Pain is a rather popular artist isn't he? He even has an iPhone app called "I Am T-Pain" that allows users to "auto-tune" their voice. And I don't even listen to Top 40 radio! I can't name a single song featuring or by T-Pain. Or which ones feature Kayne West's Auto-Tuned voice.

But Auto-Tune is not an "electronic" thing. It is used to treat vocal tracks in pop, rock, country, rap, etc.
