MUSICAL DEATHS 2020:
Both as a result of complications due to Covid.  Sad

Dawn Lindbergh passed away on Monday the 7th - probably unknown outside of SA. She and her husband Des were wildly popular folk type musicians way back when - they got involved in theatre work in later years. She was considered to be something of a doyenne in that world. This is what springs to mind (along with the "Unicorn Song", lol!) - "The Seagull's Name Was Nelson" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wl7YHtAr1U. R.I.P. Dawn - she was 75.

Harold Budd, 24 May 1936 – 08 December 2020. Well respected avant-garde and minimalist composer and musician - he didn't like the 'ambient' label. He worked with Brian Eno a lot, and with Robin Guthrie too (Cocteau Twins), in fact they just recently released an album that I started listening to the other day before being rudely interrupted by stuff. It's titled Another Flower. May he R.I.P.

I don't know a whole lot of his work but I do know some ... this is so incredibly delicate ...

And this one, because it's wonderful, IMHO ...

Dawn Lindbergh - now that brings back memories. Always Liked Harold Budd's work - have a few CD's of collaborations with various musicians. Always interesting.

CHARLEY PRIDE

aged 86

cause:  bloody Covid!

news article:  Charley Pride, country music's first Black star, dies at 86 (msn.com)

black country artist, so fairly unique there and the second of only three African-American's to be invited to join The Grand Old Opry.
released only 50 singles but 30 were #1 hits on billboard's country charts.
im not overly familiar with his career but ive heard enough via my Dad's old collection to know he was a very good artist.
he became RCA's most successful artist after Elvis Presley.
RIP Charley

cant go past either of these two songs so im posting both of them as a tribute:

recorded a month ago at the CMA's,
would have probably have been close to being his last public performance, and he still "had it" at 86!
