What Are You Listening To?
Today's pick - the perfect song to end a very good movie.

And the title 'North Country' reminds me of this little masterpiece.

And here's another well-crafted album - one of those albums I reach for when I can't decide what to listen to. Two of my favourites from it.

Had a stab at the new Adele album. Managed to get through the first five tracks and then just could not listen to it anymore. I don't care if the rest of the world thinks it's good enough to be number 1 everywhere. I think it's mediocre at best. I found it quite boring to listen to and the songs are weak. She really has to move on from the Agony Aunt rhetoric. It's getting a bit tiresome now.

i llisrened too,
vocals are quite weak.
i noticed she doenst even try to hit the higher notes anymore (apart from the single 'easy on me'),
her goose has been cooked, time for Adele to fade away and just live off the millions in royalties from her first two albums IMO.

BOB DYLAN "together through life" cd, 2009

his thrity-third studio set...
follows on the blues/blues rock sounds of the previous three albums..
those three, 'time out of mind', 'love and threft' and 'modern times' are great albums iMO,
this one just falls a bit flat as it just regurgitates that formula...
nothing i love on this one and a couple im not keen on...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

favourite, a real slow burn...

NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE "live rust" cd, 1979.

hadnt istened to Uncle Neil in a while and needed 'a fix' of him today.
instead of a random pick i thought i would pick something quintessentially classic this time, and what a pick!
not only his best live set but possibly one of the greatest live albums ever IMO...
contains a good collection of both acoustic and electric material.
a pure masterpiece, love the 'rust never sleeps' live dvd of the album also...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

his greatest song IMO:

Once I thought I saw you
in a crowded hazy bar,
Dancing on the light
from star to star.
Far across the moonbeam
I know that's who you are,
I saw your brown eyes
turning once to fire.

You are like a hurricane
There's calm in your eye.
And I'm gettin' blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I'm getting blown away.

I am just a dreamer,
but you are just a dream,
You could have been
anyone to me.
Before that moment
you touched my lips
That perfect feeling
when time just slips
Away between us
on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane..... (etc)

You are just a dreamer,
and I am just a dream.
You could have been
anyone to me.
Before that moment
you touched my lips
That perfect feeling
when time just slips
Away between us
on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane..... (etc)

NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE  "ragged glory" cd, 1990.

his eighteenth solo set...
full on electric rock here...
ten tracks...
love just about everything on here, one of my go-to NY albums...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

from the album:

People say don't rock the boat, let things go their own way
Ideas that once seem so right, now have gotten hard to say
I wish that I could talk to you and you could talk to me
'Cause there very few of us left my friend
From the days that used to be

Seemed like such a simple thing to follow one's own dream
But possessions and concession are not often what they seem
They drag you down and load you down in disguise of security
But we never had to make those deals
In the days that used to be

Talk to me, my long lost friend, tell me how you are
Are you happy with your circumstance, are you driving a new car
Does it get you where you want to go, with a seven year warranty
Or just another hundred thousand miles away
From the days that used to be

Joan Armatrading - Me Myself I

[Image: 220px-Me_Myself_I_-_Joan_Armatrading.jpg]

Was reminded of this album due to a playlist I was putting together the other day. Some great songs on here, and mad bass! Always curious to know who the additional musicians are - it's quite fascinating sometimes - Clarence Clemons appears on this one, on sax. She's commanded a worthy retinue over the years, I must say.

Favourites here are "Turn Out The Light" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3dpdjD_Gqw and "Friends" ...
