Doug Boyle was born on this day in 1962, in Essex, England.
Recording and touring guitarist in Robert Plant’s band from 1987 to 1992, moving on to play with Nigel Kennedy and also in a latter incarnation of Caravan. He’s released one solo album and done quite bit of session work – pops up in unexpected places … Dave Sinclair’s
Stream for example … although maybe not that unexpected given the Caravan connection! -

and finally - the obvious … “Ship of Fools” –

Kyla-Rose Smith was born on this day in 1982, in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is best known as the violinist and backing singer for the now defunct
Freshlyground.
She has since become involved with many sound related and multi-media projects, both at home and abroad. She is especially interested in the art of performance and how artists and audiences engage and interact with one another and her webpage says
“Her current projects engage with aural and visual dimensions of contemporary society.” http://www.kylarosesmith.com/ She is the artistic direction for an organization that performed a work titled “Seventy Sounds Between You and Me” which is interesting notion, IMHO (if it’s a bit like the six degrees of separation). I imagine it could be the sounds that punctuate our lives – some we probably pay no attention at all – and the differences and similarities, culturally, geographically, socially, etc. Hmmm ….
One of
Freshlyground’s best known songs and a firm favourite – as it should be …
