WILLIE NELSON "a beautiful time" cd, 2022
his 98th studio album and fifth since 2020...
mainly originals with a couple of covers thrown in the mix (Cohen/Beatles)...
a real country album and his best in a long time for me...
yes, his voice isnt what it used to be in places but that adds to the charm and fragility of the song themes IMO...
i hope it isnt going to be his final album but if it is it sure is a good way to bow out...
album would score 2.3 from me.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
written for him by Chris Stapleton:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

CAAMP "lavender days" vinyl 2022
from Columbus,Oh...
folk/alt-folk band...
their fourth studio album but my first..
hints of country on a couple of tracks but mainly solid folk tunes...
nothing to dislike on here and plenty to love..
i have the lavender coloured vinyl edition...
album scores a very good 2.2 and isnt too far off many listens from being an album i will love...

THE LUMINEERS "brightside" cd, 2022
from Denver, Colorado...
alt folk/indi-folk band...
fourth album, and fourth for me also...
album is slightly more sparse sounding than their previous efforts but still melodic, wistful and playful as expected....
album rates 2.3 for me which means...

KASEY CHAMBERS "little bird" cd, 2010.
a revisit...
Aussie country singer...
her seventh of twelve, my seventh of twelve also...
her first album not to top the Aussie albums charts (peaked at #3)...
she is real country in an era where modern crap sells...
album is full of REAL country and bluegrass...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

JACK WHITE "entering heaven alive" vinyl, 2022
his second for 2022,
the first was heavy and guitar driven, this is quieter, acoustic and country/folk driven...
so half of it definitely falls between country and folk the remainder ebbs and flows between jazz and blues whilst still amazingly remaining close to country...
certainly the most melodic beautiful album of his entire career for me, but is it his best?
yes, i believe it is...

JOHN WILLIAMSON "old man emu" cd, 1982
aussie country singer...
been around over fifty years now and still releasing albums and touring...
he writes and performs as many novelty songs as he does serious material...
his songs are similar to Slim Dusty in that he sings about the people and the land...
the title track is a cover of his original tune from 1970 (ish)
another quality album from JW

tops the Rolling Stone "best country albums of 2022" list...
third album...
has previously written songs for Alan Jackson, Little Big Town and Lori McKenna...
album opens with an orchestrated instrumental and i was thinking WTF but it all changed with the second track...
real country, similar to Kasey Musgraves debut album...

JOHN WILLIAMSON "JW's family album" cd, 1990.
Aussie country singer...
a collection of children's songs written by himself...
not childrens songs as in "insy winsy spider" but actual songs about children's lives in outback Australia and presumably (and most likely knowing his style) from his own childhood...
a nice lighthearted album of totally inoffensive songs that put the occasional smile upon ones face.
