ANDREW LATIMER ~ War Stories

Never thought this day would hold such a fantastic surprise! To little or no fanfare at all, the amazing Andy Latimer has released a new album, on Bandcamp – on 01 October 2025. Took long enough for me to stumble upon it! Jeez. I didn’t see this one coming, I have to say, especially since we know he has not been very well over the past few years. Sadly.

There are few words to describe the emotions his playing elicits - what a stupendous gift this man has. And he is so modest. Bought and downloaded immediately. I'm so happy! It's like hitting the jackpot - not that that's ever been a thing for me, but you know - like winning a prize or something.  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

It plays more or less as a continuous track despite the titles listing and there’s not much info other than the following notes from Bandcamp: https://andrewlatimer.bandcamp.com/track/war-stories

"This work is dedicated to those with passion, strength and courage who are forced to endure conflict.

Andrew Latimer : Music & All instruments
Pete Jones : Lyrics, vocals and sax on "In the Dark" and "Going Home"
Guy Leblanc : Piano, bass and drums on "Going Home"

My heartfelt thanks to Susan (Hoover) Colin (Bass) and Debbie (Dyke) for their Love and Guidance.

As an addendum, Mr Latimer has quietly released several tracks this year which stand alone and can also be found on his Bandcamp page.

Sorry all, have not been around for a while. A LOT going on in the background. Have not been listening to much new new music at all. Have not come up with anything new myself either. I think that time is over. My CD player died a death and I have not had time to replace it. Sorry I missed your birthday MH. Hope you had a great day. Flying out to SA today - my mom is in ICU and very fragile at the moment so I have to get back as quick as I can. She's a real fighter but you can only fight for so long. She now has SEVENTEEN stents in her arteries! I will try to post a bit while I am in SA and when I get back to IE. Just a hell of a lot of stuff going on at the moment. It's going to be a bittersweet trip. My dear old Mum in a fragile state but at the same time I get to walk on the beach at Blouberg under a beautiful blue sky between hospital visits. Life is strange. And for some or other bizarre reason, God only knows why, I can't seem to get this song out of my head at the moment.  https://youtu.be/A2mE80miKdk?si=RCZx1hPpJZqX2lWo

Oh thx Ruby - will get to Mr Latimer's new album later in the week. A must-buy for me.

Oh well better go and pack the bags...

Yes - sorry about your Mom Jerome. It's so hard - I'm glad you are going to see her. Safe travels!

Thx you guys. It is what it is. Will be visiting her everyday I am here. Also been on the beach a couple of times. No antitdote like a walk on the beach to beat that shit Nothern Hemisphere winter weather. Cape Town has become a lot more expensive than the last time I was here. Traffic is chaotic here now. Traffic is backed up for miles coming into the city this morning. Madness. I will not be posting anything about music while I am here except to say my sister gave me a couple of very unusual CD's of Egyptian music. Right up my street! Chat soon.
