TREVOR OAKES

aged:  79

guitarist/songwriter and founding member of UK glam-rock band SHOWADGYWADDY

article:  Showaddywaddy bandmate pays tribute after guitarist Trevor Oakes dies aged 79

Wiki:  Trevor Oakes - Wikipedia

as a tribute, their UK #2 hit, a cover of the Eddie Cochran classic:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Moya Brennan has taken her leave of this mortal coil. She was 73 - had suffered with pulmonary thrombosis for some time. Awful. She was the eldest sibling of the family that formed Clannad in 1970 and also had a hugely successful solo career - Enya is her little sister. Talented family - lovely voices. She appears in the last post of my sadly neglected New Age artists thread and I'm picking a track I linked there in tribute - written by Ian Bairnson and from Alan Parsons' The Time Machine ... RIP Moya Brennan ...

Three days ago, the country music community lost legendary songwriter Don Schlitz. I can't count the number of songs from him that are my favorites, but this right here is without a doubt my most favorite performance of anything written by him.

God bless you and Mr. Don's family and John always!!!

Holly (a girl who loves John more every day)

P.S. Go here for a list of 50 big songs that were written by Mr. Don. I am surprised that "The Gambler" from the late and legendary Kenny Rogers wasn't labeled the top song.

Listen to my most favorite singer here sometime, James Otto that is!

^Aargh! Sorry to learn this news. I love that album cover^^ - have the vinyl. Also several of Dave Mason's solo albums - he made some simply lovely torch songs, if one has a propensity for those, which I clearly do. R.I.P. Mr Mason. Sad

R.I.P. Dick Parry - wonderful saxophonist - best known for his work with Pink Floyd. He and David Gilmour had been friends and played together in various bands from the age of 17. He was 83. Sad for Gilmour. Sad
