Finally! A show about the music industry.
#1
Hello Music Lovers,

I want to introduce myself and tell you about something new and exciting to the music world. Real music is exciting, it makes you think, and it conveys emotions and ideas. Music is a rare art; a combination of poetry, musicianship, theater, engineering, and management. It takes different skills to write, record, and perform music. Real artists are a truly a unique breed.

If you're like me, and I’m sure you are since you are a part of this forum, you can’t get enough. I love listening to music, reading about my favorite musicians, watching videos, and talking about them with my friends. There has been some documentaries on some famous bands, “the making of” of some famous albums, and “in the studio” with some famous artists; but there has never really been any T.V. shows that would give you a look into all areas of music, or a show that was from the record labels point of view.

I introduce to you not just a show from the labels point of view, but a show that follows the owners as they create a new record label. The first season will show how we create our label, find new talent, record their album, release their album, and take them on tour. Viewers will have an all access pass to behind the music industry. Since YouTube is the global cable box, we are creating a web-series.

I should take a moment to tell you that this label is a bit different from the major labels you are used to. We are creating an artist friendly record label. We are musicians and we love the art that is music; not this overproduced and generic garbage that floods our ears. This is a label by music lovers for music lovers. We want to release the best music.

This project is actually on Kickstarter right now: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2077...u?ref=live

If you like the idea, help us out. This will not happen without support. On Kickstarter you can watch our videos and get more information about what we are doing. If you don’t know how Kickstarter works, projects are posted that need funding. Anyone who likes the project can back it and we will provide you with rewards for your contribution. We will also be providing backers with exclusive content for the next year.

I don’t want you to think this is just a post and ghost. We are creating this series for you, the people who really love music. I will also be back to answer any questions you have about the show. Ask anything, provide content ideas, or simply tell us what you think. We want your opinion. We want to make this show everything it has the potential to be, and we can’t do that unless you tell us what would make this show great.

Here's a great idea to get started.

1. Get a job.
2. Earn money actually working at your job.
3. Invest your money in your new venture.

Easy huh?

Hey Jerome,

I respectfully agree that your idea is valid. I think you have miss-understood the point of this post. I am creating something unique for everyone who enjoys music. How many people in the world right now are wondering how they can make it in the music industry. This series will show how an artist can go from a garage to a sold out stage, what a label does to get the artist there, and how a label is created and grown. This series will show that there is more than one side to the music industry and that it is well within anyone's reach.

All this is, is marketing hype. There is no need to show anyone these things. Most people already know how it's done. Read any musician's autobiography. There is nothing unique in this. It's just the same thing repackaged. But the real test is if you actually bother to contribute anything to this forum other than using it as a billboard for your own agenda. Today a post, tomorrow a ghost. We have seen this so many times before on this forum. And none of them stick around.

I think you are still missing the point. I love reading musicians autobiographies, but this is a different perspective. This is not just a documentary style series where we go around interviewing bands and telling you their stories, you'll get to see things happen in real time. What happens in the show really happens in real life. If we sign a band, or they release an album; that is real. This is not a "in the studio" kind of thing, this is us sharing with the world our day to day of building this label.

Your correct when you say this is marketing, but if you have ever released an album market it our no one buys it. Marketing is not a bad thing, it is simply telling people what you've done. I'm launching a webseries; that means free for everyone to see. I think that it is an incredible concept, being that this is a music forum, I thought some people on here would be interested in what I am creating. If you like the way this show sounds, watch it once it is released. If you love the way the show sounds, give us your support and gain access to exclusive content and rewards.

As far as if I will continue to add more to this forum, that depends on if anyone here is genuinely interested in what were doing. I would love to continue to come back here post updates or other behind the scenes stuff. What does somebody besides Jerome think about this series?

we talk about music we like at this site
we don't ask each other for money
the first thing I see when I bring up that link is asking me for money
I then close it

I'm not done yet.

(See quote above) And therein lies the crux of the matter - as long as you get to discuss YOUR agenda you will make a contribution to this forum. That approach sums up how your new label with deal with it's artist's. And it's benefactors. A dead giveaway.
